My Versa special edition was working so wonderfully and has been such a great tool for me to use for the past 1.5 years. I raved about it to my friends and family. About 3 weeks ago I applied a firmware update. I haven't changed any of my normal activity. The battery pre-FU (firmware update) would need to be charged about every 4+ days. After FU, it started dying within 36 hours or so and gradually, then rapidly that time span shortened and shortened until two days ago it completely died and will not charge anymore.
I contacted support and completed the battery drain test about 5 days ago. The thing they didn't tell me until AFTER I went through the drain test was that my fitbit was no longer under the 1-year warranty period. They confirmed that, yes, the battery is no good anymore and said there's nothing they can do about it. I asked how long one should expect it to last (because if I was going to consider purchasing a new product I'd like to know what to expect) to which they replied "definitely should last longer than 1.5 years" implying I had a dud.
I've been an avid Fitbit user and evangelist since 2014, but I'm really disappointed with how this was handled. Ideally and at the very least it would be great to have the option to roll back the firmware update. It would also be great if the support team would have me tell them my purchase date info from the get-go and tell me there will be nothing they will do to replace the product if it's out of warranty so that I'm not strung along with hopes of a solution for a few days.
I have seen a few posts about similar situations from March of 2019, but nothing that recent. Hoping that if there are other people out there who've had a similar experience this will help.
