Versa Fitbit Pay Doesn't Work Where Apple Pay Does

I just bought a new Versa.  At my favorite local coffee shop, which looks like it has Square, I can use Apple Pay on my phone, but nothing happens when I try to pay with my Fitbit.  No error messages, no nothing--it's like they can't "see" each other.

 

I know my Fitbit Pay isn't broken in general, I paid for groceries with it later at a different store.

 

Has anyone else run into this?  I thought Fitbit Pay was supposed to work anywhere with NFC?

@BugNotAFeature it's probably the issue with the terminal or the card you're paying with. i encounter that all the time using tap on my physical card or google pay. you can also ask the shop owner, but i'm betting the terminal doesn't support it.
