I've included a short video of the problematic behavior with my Versa (f/w version 32.70.7.14):
Versa HR Display Goes Blank On Workout Start
So here's what happens:
When starting a workout (of any kind) via the watch interface, the heart rate display will immediately go blank, leading me to believe that the metric is not being tracked. The green LEDs on the underside are active and flashing. The watch is snug on my wrist, placed as recommended by Fitbit (1" above the wrist bone). Sometimes I can loosen the band and the HR will display, other times that does nothing. Sometimes vigorously shaking my wrist will activate the display, sometimes briefly, other times for a few minutes, but the HR is NEVER consistently displayed for the duration of my workout.
This is EXTREMELY frustrating, especially when monitoring HR zones during a workout.
- Paired with an iPhone 7, up-to-date as of this post, but that is irrelevant to this issue.
- Restarting the watch has no effect
- Factory Resetting does not fix the behavior.

i @Pjd1300, due to the recent events, I apologize for the delayed response. However, it's great to see you in our Fitbit forums.
Regarding the heart rate feature issue that your Versa is experiencing, I would like to know if it stays blank during your workout or if it got resolved. By the way, thank you for troubleshooting this issue before contacting the Community.
In order to avoid providing the same information, I'd also like to know how the factory reset was performed. Did you follow this process on your device? Opened the Settings app > About > Factory Reset or Clear User Data.
Looking forward to your response.

The heart rate display comes and goes during a workout. In fact, the heart rate display routinely disappears even when NOT using the workout tracking, but not as often. The heart rate display, 99% of the time, disappears as soon as I start the workout tracking.
And, yes, I did perform the factory reset process as outlined (Factory Reset, not Clear User Data).

Did y ever get a resolution to this issue? My HR goes blank at the beginning of a workout but after between 10-30sec it picks it up and usually there arent any issues. It seems to be when theres a HR spike that it causes it to lose signal, but very frustrating as u said.

Nope. I Never got a response or resolution from Fitbit about this. And it still happens. You're lucky that your HR picks up again - mine can go a full 2 minutes without a display. On the plus side the device does SEEM to be tracking the HR, it just doesn't display it. However, when trying to stay in a particular HR zone, knowing what the HR IS is kinda crucial...
This behavior might be the reason why I switch to another brand, perhaps sooner than when this device goes belly-up.
