Versa Heart Rate Monitor will not work on dark tattoos

I just wanted to post this because it took me a long week to figure out my sleep tracking problem and heart rate monitor problem.  I had the Versa on my non dominant left arm that has a dark sleeve tattoo.  The monitor would cut out regularly and have a hard time coming back.  I have switched the Versa to my dominant, non tattooed right arm and it has been working as it should!! This is something g that people should know about this product!! Other than that, I do really like the device.  I hope this helps others!!

Yep! totally does not work on tattoos.  Potential consumers should know this caveat, especially since tattoos are more popular than they once were.

Hey @DennisB114, it is great to see you around more often! Thanks for taking the time to try to wear your Versa on the non tattooed wrist to get heart rate data. Fitbit heart-rate tracking technology, known as PurePulse, is specially designed to give you a more complete picture of your health and fitness. As with all heart-rate tracking technology, whether a chest strap or a wrist-based sensor, accuracy is affected by personal physiology, location of wear, and type of movement.

For tips on wrist placement and how to wear your Fitbit device for best heart-rate tracking results, please see this help article.

I also have fully sleeved arms. I had the Versa on my right dominant wrist, as i have a small area with no ink and it was double-counting on my steps just from moving my arm. the stair step count was outrageous when I wasn't even going up steps. I had it set to my dominant arm and it didnt seem to make it any less sensitive. I had to end up taking the Versa back because it was just flat out not counting correctly. I have a Charge 2 that I do wear on my left wrist over my ink and I have absolutely no problems with it. I sure do wish there was a way to waterproof my Charge 2.

Wish we would have known this before purchasing a Versa on Saturday. The salesperson either didn't know this or just really wanted a sale.

We've been wondering why the sleep tracker and heart rate hasn't been working on my partners Versa but is working on mine. This should be clearly stated, I want my money back 😡

Oh my gosh I can’t believe I did not think about this, it’s been working on my right arm but not my left arm with dark sleeve. It’s been driving me crazy. I wish I knew this long ago.
