Versa Lite GPS inaccurate - adds distance

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi

I've been using the Versa Lite for the last 6 months.

Lately (i noticed it about a month ago) i've had a weird issue - although i didn't change any setting or switched my route, the device adds distance to my running sessions!

There isn't a problem with my device GPS since i checked it with a samsung smartwatch, and i know for sure that the distance i run is less than what the Versa Lite registers.

I couldn't find any solution since others had the opposite problem (registering LESS than what they did).

Again, no problem with BT or GPS since i'm not loosing the connection.

Appreciate the help!

Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @Taronov1981. I am sorry for the delayed response.

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing your concern regarding your Fitbit Versa Lite adding distance to your running sessions. Thank you for providing the additional details and your efforts to resolve this. Fitbit devices calculate distance by multiplying your walking steps and walking stride length. Similarly, your running steps are multiplied by your running stride length. This will not necessarily match a pre-measured distance, nor will it show exactly what a GPS device will show. For more information about accuracy of Fitbit devices and captured GPS data, please see this help article: How accurate are Fitbit devices?

Since you know the distance you run and there are no problems with GPS, I will be forwarding your comments to our engineering team for further investigation. Thank you bringing this to our attention.

I am sorry for any trouble. Let me know if you have further questions.

Thank you for taking the time to review my issue and answering me.

I have to say i did take into account the stride length and the way my Versa Lite calculates the distance.

It is however strange that a device that's supposed to use the phone's GPS can't do a better and more accurate job....

I'd appreciate if the Engineering team at Fitbit can really offer some kind of solution since it is a real issue for me (and i guess for others that have similar problems).

Thanks again!
