Versa Lite battery lasts 24 hours

I bought my Versa lite 27 hours ago - charged it for 2 hours when I bought it. The battery went down 4% in one hour once full. Charged battery again when it got to 0%  (20 hours after purchase; 12 hours since last charge) for 4 hours. When I took it off charge, battery lost 7% in 1.5 hours. Is battery defective as it will not last 24 hours let alone the 4+ that has been advertised.
