Versa Lite broken bands pin

I enjoy switching out the bands on my Fitbit Versa Lite.  However, the flipper on the pin that enables me to push the pin down to secure the pin and band broke off. How do I remove the band when I have nothing to release the tension holding the pin in place?

A straight pin, or safety-pin can be used in the hole as well (see video)
