I accidentally long-pressed the button on my Versa Lite while changing the strap, which usually causes it to just restart, no big deal. This time it seemed to restart but landed on a screen that says "Data not cleared Sync and try again." However, it won't sync! And the device is stuck on this error screen. (I also don't particularly want to clear my data, but that's a minor issue compared to none of it working at all!)

Hi there @suva, welcome to the Community Forums. Thank you for reporting that you accidentally reset your Fitbit and thank you for all the steps that you've tried before contacting us.
Please note the message "Data not cleared, Sync & Try again" usually appears when you performed a factory reset without first unpairing your watch from your phone's Bluetooth settings.
With that being said, please try the following steps to solve the issue:
If you can't get started with your Versa Lite, usually a missing requirement is the cause. Carefully review the requirements provided in the help article Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?
If you continue having issues with your watch's touch screen after pairing it again, try to change your clock face. If this fixes the issue, you can change your clock face back to the original clock face.
Hope that helps.

Thank you for your detailed response! I didn't realize it was possible for a user to factory reset the Versa Lite, since the support documents say to contact Customer Support for that. What do I need to avoid doing in the future so that the device doesn't think I'm trying to factory reset it?
Also, a note to anyone else dealing with this problem, I'd forgotten that for new setup (after all the turning off & on, etc) you can't connect to Bluetooth through your phone's settings, you have to go through the Fitbit app. It's in the "how do I set up?" instructions that @YojanaFitbit linked, but at first I figured I was an experienced enough user to not read them again, lol. (I *have* been a Fitbit user for a good while, I just haven't set up a lot of new devices, tend to stick with one until it dies)
