Fitbit Update: 4/27

 

Hi, Versa Lite Fam!

 

Today we're announcing a new firmware: Fitbit OS 4.1.2(version:70.7.27), which addresses and solves the firmware update issue that was identified and reported in this thread. Please update to this new firmware once you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app. 

 

If you attempt this new update and have issues, PLEASE FOLLOW these step by step instructions in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device? 

 

DO NOT ever attempt a factory reset as a troubleshooting method for Versa Lite. Thank you all for your patience while a fix was put in place.

Hi Versa Lite users,

 

If you recently purchased a Versa Lite, or if you recently tried completing a firmware update and had issues our teams are aware of the problem.

 

We're currently investigating and working on a resolution. Please DO NOT perform a factory reset on the watch as a troubleshooting method. 

 

Instead, try the following:

  • Plug the watch into a computer and attempt the update over Bluetooth. You may need to resume the update if it fails a few times. Note: You must have the watch plugged into a computer to improve the chances of successfully updating. 
  • If you have more time available, contact our Customer Support and they can walk you through another method using a Windows 10 computer. 

As a side note, if you encounter any issues while updating it, please perform the troubleshooting mentioned in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

I can't get my fit bit to do anything now! Talked on live chat for it to tell me that after 6 months my versa lite was no longer compatible with my Google Pixel 3a XL. They've worked together perfectly fine until I was forced to update tracker. After I tried every troubleshooting action I was told and it still didn't work I did a factory reset and now I own an $175 paper weight. Because my Fitbit will not update on ANY KIND OF PHONE! This update has ruined my tracker and I am going to purchase a different brand. I've been a Fitbit wearer for well over 5 years. But this forced update has changed that.

Not working for me. Three hours later and only 25%. This is my second one with this issue. It will fail. Just like the other one did.

You’ve been waiting two weeks! If it’s still in warranty, contact them and they’ll sort you another one. A reconditioned one I might add. I’m on my second one with this issue and I’ve got a case opened since things went wrong yesterday.

My laptop does not have Bluetooth would I be able to do it via dongle

This issue started in Dec. There was a similar issue in Oct. it’s now middle of Feb, almost. Why hasn’t this been resolved!

Back in November, Google bought Fitbit. I suspect there was probably at least a small shakeup and this issue hasn’t yet been addressed. Possibly it never will and the Versa Lite will get phased out.

That is what my husband has been saying all along, that they are phasing it out.  I didnt know google had bought them.  Good waste of money buying this thing.

They sent me 3 refurbished replacements and of course they all did the same thing once the update did its damage.

The trouble shooting is useless. Doesn’t work. It’s Feb!!!! This was a problem back in Dec. Why isn’t there a fix yet. Fitbit seems to be winging it, much like the fix they didn’t find for ios13! I’m coming to the realisation that this is a very inferior product.

 I won't spend the any more money buying these, we are at their mercy when &*^% happens.Just going old school when working out or buy one of those 400.00 smart watches but then againwill this happen again.

And they obviously dont stand behind their product.  Terrible customer service.  They wouldnt even give me the number to their headquarters.

I managed to get the tracker working through win 10 computer. However. It has reverted back to its original software. My app says it’s up to date but there are at least two firmware updates. How do I get these updates? Are they lost now. I’m missing some apps that came with the previous firmware update.

So now we know they dont care about the customer so long as they get our hard earned money.  Their customer service had me do a factory reset even though the site said not to.  They ruined my watch with their defective update and then did the same to a refurbished one they sent me.  Everyone I know will know never to buy a fitbit and why.

@Ann133 are you saying that the replacement watch was clearly stamped on the package as refurbished?

I got mine working with a windows 10 laptop, too. Twice, because I accidentally did the upgrade again. 

 

My advice is to NOT do the upgrade until such time as we get some kind of confirmation -- probably in this forum -- that the firmware upgrades are working.

No but it was not in a regular package, just a small plastic bag, unmarked. I have no doubt they were refurbished ones

My fitbit was given to me for xmas by my girlfriend. I only wear it now so she won't give me hassle about it. But I will never purchase one of these again.I actually thought it was cool but after all this frustration it is not worth it.

It was a great product before the update in november.  Now I am lucky if it syncs.  I cant use the clockfaces I have purchased because it errors out.  Never get notifications I am supposed to.  Before the update it did almost that.

Up until the update my Fitbit worked fine. It had stop received texts but oh well no big deal. Now it will not connect to Bluetooth. I have had it for a couple of years so I guess have had had my value out of it. Very disappointed by what I’m reading here though. It was good while it lasted.
