Fitbit Update: 4/27

Hi, Versa Lite Fam!

Today we're announcing a new firmware: Fitbit OS 4.1.2(version:70.7.27), which addresses and solves the firmware update issue that was identified and reported in this thread. Please update to this new firmware once you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app.

If you attempt this new update and have issues, PLEASE FOLLOW these step by step instructions in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

DO NOT ever attempt a factory reset as a troubleshooting method for Versa Lite. Thank you all for your patience while a fix was put in place.

Fitbit Update: 12/12

Hi Versa Lite users,

If you recently purchased a Versa Lite, or if you recently tried completing a firmware update and had issues our teams are aware of the problem.

We're currently investigating and working on a resolution. Please DO NOT perform a factory reset on the watch as a troubleshooting method.

Instead, try the following:

  • Plug the watch into a computer and attempt the update over Bluetooth. You may need to resume the update if it fails a few times. Note: You must have the watch plugged into a computer to improve the chances of successfully updating.
  • If you have more time available, contact our Customer Support and they can walk you through another method using a Windows 10 computer.

As a side note, if you encounter any issues while updating it, please perform the troubleshooting mentioned in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation while we work hard on a fix.

I was able to fix mine after a factory reset. It requires a Windows 10
laptop. Basically, it involves stopping Fitbit on your phone, then set up
the Fitbit app on my Win 10 laptop. After that you connect the USB charger
to the USB port on my laptop. Use laptop Bluetooth to pair Fitbit with the
Win 10 laptop. and then start the update from within the WINDOWS 10 app
(not the phone app). I have done this twice (I accidentally update once,
again) and it worked both times.

I was having the same issue and hooked up to a computer that had windows 10, did a reset and it took the download in about 30 minutes. Try that , it may work for you too.

YES! I finally had success when I plugged my watch charger directly into my Mac computer. NOTHING else worked until I did this. So for everyone out there, follow the directions listed for updating WHILE the watch is plugged into your computer. It took my Fitbit about an hour+ to complete the update. I was close to throwing my watch away and buying an Apple Watch when I made one last ditch effort to plug my Fitbit into the computer!! So glad I did. Saved me $400!!

Just make sure your watch does all the functions it was performing before the update. If you do good for you.

How can I restore a watchface that was purchased after a firmware update?

I've tried forgetting the device on bluetooth, setting it up as a new device, plugging it in. When can we expect a patch to this bad update that won't even update? 😞 I put off doing a workout today because I wanted to wait for my Fitbit to update, but it's been literal hours and it won't finish.

There's a guy that used the desktop to update,  I tried mine but it still didn't work like it used to. I updated with windows 10 but It still doesn't give me notificationsand the sleep monitor runs a day behind. So, I gave up and it is sitting in a drawer until a fix is created but it appears it will not come. So, do it old school no matter whatexercise you do your heart rate is what tells you your burning fat.
