Fitbit Update: 4/27

Hi, Versa Lite Fam!

Today we're announcing a new firmware: Fitbit OS 4.1.2(version:70.7.27), which addresses and solves the firmware update issue that was identified and reported in this thread. Please update to this new firmware once you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app.

If you attempt this new update and have issues, PLEASE FOLLOW these step by step instructions in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

DO NOT ever attempt a factory reset as a troubleshooting method for Versa Lite. Thank you all for your patience while a fix was put in place.

Fitbit Update: 12/12

Hi Versa Lite users,

If you recently purchased a Versa Lite, or if you recently tried completing a firmware update and had issues our teams are aware of the problem.

We're currently investigating and working on a resolution. Please DO NOT perform a factory reset on the watch as a troubleshooting method.

Instead, try the following:

  • Plug the watch into a computer and attempt the update over Bluetooth. You may need to resume the update if it fails a few times. Note: You must have the watch plugged into a computer to improve the chances of successfully updating.
  • If you have more time available, contact our Customer Support and they can walk you through another method using a Windows 10 computer.

As a side note, if you encounter any issues while updating it, please perform the troubleshooting mentioned in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

Thanks for your understanding and cooperation while we work hard on a fix.

I called customer service. He said that it was continually refreshing and offered a new one or a %age off a different one. Since I just got it in October, I didn't want to put more $$ into it. I got the new one in a week, but now it is telling me to update it and I am scared the same thing will happen.

That is great but I will wait for the fix. I do not know if all the different types get an update. But I will warn others not to purchase the fitbit until it is corrected.

Connect it to a computer or laptop that has internet and try the steps of setting it up as new from your phone. It should work that way.

Well I tried what you mentioned and it didn't work. Now I have had this watch down this whole time which is about 2 weeks. So, when I tried your method and it didn't work I went ahead and went through the original update since I really didn't have much to lose again. So, I went ahead and it started to download thru my droid and it started to actually update. The screen was changing, the only thing it had was thefitbit icon now I could see it download and it worked. I have my watch again...no more factory reset for me...

I have done everything suggested on this forum to no avail. For 7 weeks all I've had is the fitbit logo on this watch. Very disappointed in this product.!!

Alright. After mine bricked I contacted support and they offered to replace it.

I’ll be honest. I fought with them about it because I assumed a new one would have the same problem. But in the end, I gave in and let them do it, and was prepared for it not to work and FitBit to lose a customer who has bought a new watch every single year for five years.

Somehow - and I don’t understand why - this new one works. It shouldn’t, in theory. And it showed the update failing six times. But despite that it kept going, and now... I have a working watch.🤷‍:female_sign:

So... thank you Fitbit. Sorry I doubted you? ((Please fix the issue anyway.))

I left my watch alone when I factory reset for a couple of weeks.  I read someone else's issue and I tried their way and it didn't workSo, since I was in there I went ahead and did a whole new update and it took. The fitbit icon was the only thing on the screen all this timeand I could see it was actually downloading. It downloaded last night so I went ahead and down loaded the clock face which I had purchased before and it worked.
So what I did I plugged the power supply to the computer and I tried going thru the computer into the app as described by the other fitbit user. It didn't work. So, frustrated again I said, 'What do I have to lose", thru the phone I went ahead and downloaded the fitbit app again for the 30th time, and the update came up so I went ahead and engaged theupdate the icon on the watch started to flutter and you could see it was downloading. I am not going to hold my breath and if it continues to work like before I will give anotherupdate. Good Luck

That gives me hope. I just got the replacement ordered today. I miss my Fitbit. If the replacement has the same issue, I’m getting an Apple Watch.

It does not give me notifications but I can monitor my workouts.

My husband says with the way they are sending out all of these refurbished replacements they must be phasing it out.  They sent me 3, one of which never got to me.  So I have 2 with big red Xs and 1 that syncs rarely.  Will never buy another fitbit.

I am going to give them about another week to sort this out before I send it back to Amazon and buy another Samsung watch. My last one didn't do everything this watch does, but it would talk to my phone and vice versa. Come on Fitbit, you were first to make these things, get it right!

At least I think you were first.
