Fitbit Update: 4/27

 

Hi, Versa Lite Fam!

 

Today we're announcing a new firmware: Fitbit OS 4.1.2(version:70.7.27), which addresses and solves the firmware update issue that was identified and reported in this thread. Please update to this new firmware once you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app. 

 

If you attempt this new update and have issues, PLEASE FOLLOW these step by step instructions in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device? 

 

DO NOT ever attempt a factory reset as a troubleshooting method for Versa Lite. Thank you all for your patience while a fix was put in place.

Hi Versa Lite users,

 

If you recently purchased a Versa Lite, or if you recently tried completing a firmware update and had issues our teams are aware of the problem.

 

We're currently investigating and working on a resolution. Please DO NOT perform a factory reset on the watch as a troubleshooting method. 

 

Instead, try the following:

  • Plug the watch into a computer and attempt the update over Bluetooth. You may need to resume the update if it fails a few times. Note: You must have the watch plugged into a computer to improve the chances of successfully updating. 
  • If you have more time available, contact our Customer Support and they can walk you through another method using a Windows 10 computer. 

As a side note, if you encounter any issues while updating it, please perform the troubleshooting mentioned in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

I agree. I am so fed up I have tried numerous of the suggestions given. It appeared to be downloading yesterday, it went all the way through on the watch. But after about three hours message came up it could not sync and big red X appeared. 😡

Leave it sit for awhile, and try it again in a week. I removed and added the fitbit app about 30 times on the phone.Be patient...

We shouldn't have to be patient, it should work out of the box. It isn't like Android is some kind of new OS.

 

Mine did some kind of update last night, but it still doesn't get notifications from my phone. I am fed up and it is going back to Amazon. If all I wanted was a step counter, I could have got that for $20. I will go back to Samsung and know that it will do all the things it is supposed to.

Since Samsung also makes the phone @HareBall11 I'm sure it will work. 

However both Fitbit and Garmin do not make phones and is the reason both put out a list of tested and known phones that work. I'm most cases it is not the OS but the hardware that causes the issue.

Mine worked fine till the update in november.  Now I have 3 that are not even good paperweights in replacements they sent me.

I had already attempted a factory reset before reading this post. I had my Versa Lite for Christmas. Two weeks ago I had an alert to complete a firmware update, it won’t complete an update, it keeps saying I need to sync the device and try again. I’ve tried uninstalling device and reinstalling. Also reinstalled the app. Basically I cannot do anything with this fitbit and it doesn’t work

I gave up and returned. I bought the Inspire HR. Two of my friends have it and live it. I brought home, set up and updated. No problem.

I don't have bluetooth on my computer, so how am I supposed to connect to my watch from it. The computer doesn't recognize the watch.

Edit to add this:
I got mine working. This morning I decided that I couldn't do anymore damage, so I factory reset and went through the whole setup again. After I downloaded the updates, things still weren't working, but I started to dig around and came across notification settings that I haven't seen before and it seems nobody has bothered to tell anyone about. All mine were turned off! I went through and set which ones I wanted notifying me and after I got through, they all worked. I know this isn't going to help some of the folks, but it will the ones like me who just needed notifications. Below is where the settings are.
Open your fitbit app and open your account by tapping the icon in the top left. Where it says device hold down on Versa 2. In the next screen scroll down to Notifications under General. Then in that screen tap App Notifications. Go through those and choose what apps you want to be notified by.

Trying to update the firmware since 4 days. Fitbit device fails to sync and a message pops up stating data not cleared, sync and try again.

I have 2 that say that with a red X. Cant do anything with them.

Mine has finally started working a little.  Ssd's syncs when it feels like it but not often.  When I change the clockface to one I have used before it has a clock error and says to choose another one.  The touch screen rarely works.  The update turned it into trash and they still are not fixing it.

They are telling me the update will fix mine sounds like crap to me

I have had to uninstall and reinstall the app many times. Since this bad update.  It puts the same version on every time.  There is no fix yet.  This customer service stinks.

I turned off my auto updates since this all happens. I see there is another update. I have not read anything here that it has been fixed. Waiting to hear before I run this.

The problem I have is I don’t have a computer with or without Bluetooth. It’s been a nightmare trying to sort out

Just got an email from fitbit with a sale for versa 2. Cant believe they are pushing it when they know it will come out of the box not working once updated.  What a slimy thing to do.
