Fitbit Update: 4/27

 

Hi, Versa Lite Fam!

 

Today we're announcing a new firmware: Fitbit OS 4.1.2(version:70.7.27), which addresses and solves the firmware update issue that was identified and reported in this thread. Please update to this new firmware once you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app. 

 

If you attempt this new update and have issues, PLEASE FOLLOW these step by step instructions in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device? 

 

DO NOT ever attempt a factory reset as a troubleshooting method for Versa Lite. Thank you all for your patience while a fix was put in place.

Hi Versa Lite users,

 

If you recently purchased a Versa Lite, or if you recently tried completing a firmware update and had issues our teams are aware of the problem.

 

We're currently investigating and working on a resolution. Please DO NOT perform a factory reset on the watch as a troubleshooting method. 

 

Instead, try the following:

  • Plug the watch into a computer and attempt the update over Bluetooth. You may need to resume the update if it fails a few times. Note: You must have the watch plugged into a computer to improve the chances of successfully updating. 
  • If you have more time available, contact our Customer Support and they can walk you through another method using a Windows 10 computer. 

As a side note, if you encounter any issues while updating it, please perform the troubleshooting mentioned in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

Don't get upset. They made their money with our money, just don't do it again. Do it old schoolI used my watch for exercises, but don't need all those bells and whistles. Now, when I sprint orweight lift once my heart rate is fast and I am perspiring I am burning weight and getting stronger.I thought it was cool to have one of those but you really do not need them.

Hi me and my wife just purchased the versa lite and we can not conect it to our phones we have the lg stylo5 when it conects to Bluetooth it only lasts a minute and disconnects we can get the app and conect the 2 but only for that part we can't customize it or up date anything we have done several things to fix it and it has just become frustrating pleas help thank you

Every time I try to update it a red x shows up on my screen and says the sync failed. I go to sync it with all day sync or the sync now button and both of those pop up with something saying I need the firmware update to use it. I have been trying to update my watch for at least 12 hours and it’s a Fitbit Versa lite.

I have to report success after5 frustrating months.The  Fitbit finally updated!Thank. God!

I just got the update but my watch won't sync long enough to get through it. I only know about this update because of a syncing issue. What do I do know?

I struggled the last 2 days trying to do the most resent firmware update!

I was finally able to do the latest update on my Versa lite and Samsung Galaxy s5, after reading the information posted here. I plugged my Versa lite into my laptop and tried to do the update but it didn't work. After some trial and error, I was only able to get it to work by restarting both the watch and the phone at the same time and immedeatly starting the update, while the Versa lite was plugged into the computer. After the watch was done loading it automatically restarted, but I was still showing the update working on my phone. I finally stopped it and restarted the phone and the watch again. After the restart, everything seems to be working again.

Tried updating one of my replacements.  It has been trying for about 4 hours and only on 7%.  Keeps saying it is looking for the versa.  Nothing different for me

After 4 weeks, I managed to get a lend of a Windows 10 laptop. It took 4 and a half hours to update. But it worked.

I have no access to win10.  I paid enough for this thing I shouldn't have to.  Fitbit should be fixing it.

I have same problem as well as others and have since the bad update last november.  I dont think they want to fix it.  I think they want us to buy new ones but they will do the same thing. What a nightmare.  They will never get another penny from me.

This has not entirely resolved the issues I was having with the connection to my Galaxy s5 phone, it is still loosing the connection. I have gone into the app on my phone and reinstall my Versa lite by setting it up as a new watch, (same as installing a new watch), too get it to recognized my Versa lite.

I upgraded my Versa Lite to version 33.1.30 on March 1, 2020. It only took 4 days to complete the upgrade. Finally used a Windows 10 laptop and directly connected USB charging cable and completed the upgrade. The update failed 10-20 times, but I keep choosing retry and it finally completed the update.

After the update the touch screen started working again however the back button with a 2 second press only took me to settings and no longer to my shortcuts. Also lost the additional clock faces I had on my account.

 

On March 6, 2020 the app on my phone said I had another update pending (Ugh!!) I decided to give it a go and choose update. To my surprise the update to version 70.7.14 only took about 2 minutes over Blue Tooth. Now a 2 second back button press takes me to my shortcut exercise...sweet! My extra clock faces now show back up. I was a happy camper until the next day when the touch screen stopped working again. I have restarted the watch several times but still no touch screen.

 

In summary. The painful 4 day upgrade fixed the touch screen and the following 2 minute upgrade broke it again!

I have had that version for a while now.  They still have not fixed it.  Wasted money.  Not even a good paperweight.

Hi fitbit - I'm only seven days or so past the return policy at Target (bought the fitbit for my daughter on 2/1/20) - can you help me get an exception so I can get a refund? I'd be happy to buy another fitbit once the kinks are out, but I don't have time to find a friend with a windows 10 laptop and then screw around with their computer. Can we just put this behind us all as quickly as possible?
