Hi, Versa Lite Fam!

 

Today we're announcing a new firmware: Fitbit OS 4.1.2(version:70.7.27), which addresses and solves the firmware update issue that was identified and reported in this thread. Please update to this new firmware once you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app. 

 

If you attempt this new update and have issues, PLEASE FOLLOW these step by step instructions in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device? 

 

DO NOT ever attempt a factory reset as a troubleshooting method for Versa Lite. Thank you all for your patience while a fix was put in place.

Hi Versa Lite users,

 

If you recently purchased a Versa Lite, or if you recently tried completing a firmware update and had issues our teams are aware of the problem.

 

We're currently investigating and working on a resolution. Please DO NOT perform a factory reset on the watch as a troubleshooting method. 

 

Instead, try the following:

  • Plug the watch into a computer and attempt the update over Bluetooth. You may need to resume the update if it fails a few times. Note: You must have the watch plugged into a computer to improve the chances of successfully updating. 
  • If you have more time available, contact our Customer Support and they can walk you through another method using a Windows 10 computer. 

As a side note, if you encounter any issues while updating it, please perform the troubleshooting mentioned in this article: Why can't I update my Fitbit device?

I first got my Fitbit lite in February of 2020 as a gift from a friend stationed oversees and was excited to receive it. Soon after it needed a firmware update and it became a nightmare. Called support they had me do many things that didn’t work so they sent me a shipping label to return device. 14 days later get new device so I again activate it and I thought all was well, boy was I wrong.  Doing the same thing and I’m over it.  How can you release a item with known issues like this to the public? I have spent many hours ( more then your watch is worth) trying to get this piece of junk to update.  At this point you should send me out your newest model overnight for compensation.

Until they fix the update none will work.  Have heard the same issues with other models.

None will work is not a true statement. Mine works and so do my friends. But I think we are the exception, not the rule.

I don't know what they are referring to with a windows 10. I try all this with my phone and my Fitbit. Tried again last nite. since the update, I DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO GET NOTIFICATIONS ON MY FITBIT LIKE I DID BEFORE. I PUSH THE BUTTON ON THE LEFT AND IT IS NOT THERE. I GO ON THE APP, IT ONLY GIVES ME NOTIFICATION LIKE STEPS. NO TEXT MESSAGES OR PHONE CALLS. BASICALLY A WATCH

This happened a very inconvenient time. I travel five hours to help my sister who cares for our mom with Alzheimer’s. Mom is nearing the end and gets turned every two hours at night. I have been on duty the last three nights to give my sister a break. I rely on the alarms on my versa lite to wake up on the night for Mom. I have no alarm and now watch the whole time because it wouldn’t update. Very frustrating.

  • Had my Fitbit **ahem** plugged into my computer for 4 hours no update just got off the phone with support for over an hour and no update. There product is PURE JUNK

I am having this issue now. What is the fix? Have tried all the trouble shooting items. Don’t have a computer to plug into. Get a green check mark on my watch and go to finish update but it doesn’t work. Have been trying to update for 5 days now. Please help.

Did get the update but the entire system now has gone on the fritz as the watch face is totally blank-I do not know what to do-I am asking the customer service ,if they are following this conversation, to please address this issue-I need a new Versa Lite.

I was able to fix mine after a factory reset. It requires a Windows 10
laptop. Basically, it involves stopping Fitbit on your phone, then set up
the Fitbit app on my Win 10 laptop. After that you connect the USB charger
to the USB port on my laptop. Use laptop Bluetooth to pair Fitbit with the
Win 10 laptop. and then start the update from within the WINDOWS 10 app
(not the phone app). I have done this twice (I accidentally update once,
again) and it worked both times.

Hello! 

i had many problems last week with my fitbit versa lite, and i did the factory reset as i thought it might work, not ive been trying to do the update for 5 days and every time i get the update failed message. 
i cant go thru with the update of my fitbit.

what can i do about it? 
please i need your help 🙂

Im about to return this. I got home with it at 2:45 pm and I have been trying to update the firmware since that time...8 hours later. I keep getting an X when trying to update over wifi so Im stuck with the Bluetooth which is taking unreasonable long. I have read and followed all the troubleshooting for this issue and Im stuck.
