Versa Lite has been killed by latest update!

Once again an update has played havoc with my Versa Lite.

First issue noticed was when it didn't log any sleep Saturday night, then noticed that the HRM LEDs were not functioning (probably why no sleep logged).

Sunday afternoon the display started to play up - sometimes not not responding to swipes and sometimes jerking about.

Monday morning spent some time trying to rectify the problem.  A couple of reboots made no difference so then went through the factory reset process.  Some improvement as the display / swipe seemed ok but still no HRM.  Step tracker seemed to function ok.

Monday afternoon the display went into meltdown - two blue vertical edges and what should have been the time display just a complete blobby blur.  Eventually the screen blanked out and would not respond to button pushes etc.

This morning the watch is dead even after being on charge overnight.

Is there any possibility this can be rescued or have FitBit just bricked my device?

Customer Support via Twitter have informed me that the App is faulty and are working on trying to rectify it. This is after the App update on 28-1-2021.

They have yet to inform or make it public that some users will still suffer issues and no timescale to fix the issue.

I seem to be able to sync when not connected to wi fi but if don't sync after 10 minutes then Fitbit Versa Lite then unpairs itself.

Ask daily if they've any updates but now after a week it seems they don't like being asked. Now they know how it feels to be a Fitbit user

Latest update:  my free replacement Versa Lite arrived yesterday, setup was fine and now it seems to be operating as it should. I was concerned that it would update to the faulty firmware but that doesn't seem to be the case.  'About' on the watch says 38.33.1.30.

Just to recap on the actions I took:-

- after the rogue firmware bricked my device I posted on this Forum

- didn't get much response so decided on a LiveChat session with a FitBit support agent

- after some brief diagnostic questions & checking date and source of purchase I was offered either a free replacement or a 50% discount on any other model - I opted for the free replacement

- next day received item dispatched notification

- 5 days later item received (from Germany to UK)

The Versa2 was destroyed by the last update too. My RHR has shot up over 5-6 bpm every day. Which is not accurate at all. this started immediately after I updated late Jan. And it’ll miss about an hour of sleep.
I’ll take similar day data and compare it to before and it’s easy 5-6 BPM higher in the data. Terrible.

Is your Versa2 still in warranty?  If so it might be worth going down the Support LiveChat route.
