I went through the forum and I read quite a few peoples posts about their fitbits not accurately counting their steps but I have yet to find a fix. My Versa Lite is only recording half of my steps during gym work outs. The mileage isn't even close to correct either. Yesterday I did 13.24 miles on a stationary bike and it recorded it as 0.74 miles, I understand that it relies on GPS for some of its tracking so that could be why the mileage was off. However, it also only recorded 4,000 steps for that time frame. If I work out on the elliptical and I do 5 miles it records it as 2.5 miles and again, only gives me about half the steps I actually did. I know that its only about half the steps because I do an average of 2,000 steps every mile just walking. I have tried restarting the device, disconnecting and resyncing it to my phone, I have an Android LG G6, deleting the fitbit app and reinstalling it, and wearing it in different places. Regardless if I put it on my wrist or my ankle it still only counts half my steps and the mileage is totally wrong. What can I do?

@Stasia47 Welcome to the Community. Sorry for the delayed reply.
Thanks for the details mentioned and the troubleshooting tried. I appreciate the research done prior to posting.
Fitbit devices use a 3-axis accelerometer to count your steps. This sensor also allows your device to determine the frequency, duration, intensity, and patterns of your movement. Regarding the distance that your Versa Lite is tracking, Fitbit devices use the formula below to calculate distance. Your stride length is determined by your height and sex.
When you track an activity with GPS, your device calculates your distance using GPS data rather than steps. If you begin moving before you get a GPS signal, your device calculates distance using your steps until GPS connects.
Also, your Versa Lite is a wrist based tracker and it won't track the same data if you wear it on your ankle. Could you compare your data tracked with Versa Lite in days that you're doing the same activities?

I'll be around if you have any additional questions.
