Versa Lite is not tracking my distance while spinning

Why is my Fitbit Versa 2 not recording my spinning distance?  I do hold the sensor handlebars as it records all the tasks while spinning.

@Wor_kinlose Hi. There is no way for a wrist worn watch to detect distance while you're legs are spinning in place.

Hi there, @Wor_kinlose. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. We'll be glad to clarify your inquiry regarding the distance while spinning. 

As @MarkMM has mentioned, your Versa Lite won't record your distance data accurately while spinning. I think you use the Spinning from the Exercise app, don't you? Distance will be off while spinning, because in that exercise you're not actually moving forward where it can judge distance. It will try based on the number of steps. The bike or treadmill at the gym might estimate distance in those cases.
