There are various threads about syncing and the Versa Lite but I don't think I see my specific problem. All day sync is turned on yet the watch will only sync to the app if I open the app specifically.
I must open the app, go to the "head" icon in the left of the screen, tap that and then it will say syncing. I have a Galaxy s20 phone with bluetooth turned on. I have reset the bluetooth on phone. I have restarted the Versa Lite. Today I totally reinstalled the Versa Lite to the app. Don't know if that will help anything. I did do the new update earlier in the week hoping that would do something, but it didn't.
Likewise I don't receive notifications or anything until I physically open the app and get it to sync. Then I will receive them, but not necessarily all day. I have yet to determine what the length of time is for those. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

@mrh29, due to the recent events, I apologize for the delayed response. However, it's great to see you in our Fitbit Community.
I'd like to follow up and help you with your Versa Lite and Fitbit app since the "All-day-sync" feature doesn't work properly. By the way, thank you for troubleshooting this issue before contacting our forums.
Please make sure that your phone has the most recent Fitbit app version installed. If the app is up to date, try logging out of the app, restart your phone, open the app and log in. Finally, check out if the "All-day-sync" feature is enabled and monitor your watch to see if the issue gets fixed.
Regarding the notifications issue, try the troubleshooting steps that are listed in this help article. After this, monitor your notifications feature.
Keep me posted on the outcome.
