Go to settings, you will find brightness, you can change it as (auto, dim, normal, max).

Hi there @saralast, welcome to the Community Forums. I'll be glad to help you with your inquiry about increasing your Versa Lite's screen brightness.
Please follow @Qais983's advice and make sure your have Brightness settings either on auto or max (depending of your preference).
Also, verify if by any chance Sleep Mode has been enabled as when you turn on the sleep mode setting:
To schedule sleep mode to automatically turn on during certain hours, open the Settings app and tap Sleep Mode > Schedule. Sleep Mode automatically turns off at the time you schedule, even if you manually turned it on.
You can't turn on do not disturb and sleep mode at the same time.

In your Fitbit device, swipe left you will find settings and all of other Fitbit apps.
You can also easily adjust brightness by control center.
To access the control center on your watch, swipe down from the top of your screen. After your notifications appear, swipe down again to open the control center, and there you can find brightness adjustment tile.
