Versa Lite showing the message "Data not cleared, sync & try again"

I have a brand-new out-of-the-box versa lite edition. I opened it and turned it on and it has a big red x and says data not cleared sync and try again. I have tried factory resetting it I have tried Bluetooth connecting it I have tried everything I cannot get this to work what do I do?!

I had the exact same time problem! Tried syncing, wouldn't work. I did factory reset only to get red x. I called fitbit twice, with literally no help. I've had my Fitbit for awhile, however, I wouldn't think it would do this. I have tried everything to reset it, nothing has worked. I've always had syncing problems from the start. So, no more Fitbit for me.

I've the infinite loading when I try to download a new clock face.

 

So I did a factory reset without decoupling; I received the message "Data-not-cleared-sync-try-again"

 

Didn't find a fitbit via bluetooth

 

Solution:

Delete the fitbit from your handyapp and set it anew for the handy app.

Then the app will search for the fitbit and finally find it.

 

...

 

The app started the download and was stuck at 1%, so I stopped the download

The watch was coupled again via bluetooth but wasn't found via the app ^^

watch showed: install the app

 

decoupled versa

deinstalled app

deactivated wlan, bluetooth at handy

restarted handy

 

bluetooth sees watch

coupling it right away

reinstalling app

..

 

download for the watch after >1min at 2%... 3min 6%

no other simultaneous download

I'm able to use the watch again, but I'm still stuck regarding "clock face change versa lite infinite loading"

I tried to add this watch from another Phone and it worked like a charm. After first sync from another Phone, I am now able to re add in my phone and it's syncing like before.

Hi, I'm having this same problem. I've tried this and factory reset by holding the button for 8 seconds and letting go for a second and then holding until I feel the long vibration. It restarted to the same x on the screen with data not cleared sync & try again. Please help.

I tried everything for 2 weeks..Nothing worked..Until I called Fitbit help. He has me download the app on my PC, then put the Fitbit into the charger and connect it to USB..Then was able to download the firmware update and fix the problem..So don't listen to anyone until you try this.

Absolutely pathetic that so many of us have this same issue. I have had mine for more than a year and I have this same issue. I was offered a discount to buy another product. What a joke.

I figured out this issue. I had to update the firmware via USB on my
laptop. Nothing else would fix it. So plug it into your computer then do
the update. It should work perfectly and work from then on, as long as you
don't do a hard reset setting it back to original firmware.

I went through all those steps with fitbit chat rep and even they said nothing can be done and referred up to the next level which they sent me an offer for 35% buying a new one. What a joke! Sent from my Sprint Samsung Galaxy S9.

How many times did U try it? It took about 3 days before it finally worked
for me. And once started, don't touch it..Allow it to reboot over and over
again..

Been trying every day for over a week. I've done the reboots, used phone to sync, computer to sync, nothing works. Through phone I get the x through computer it won't come off the diamond screen. 

Im so angry and the response from fitbit made me more angry. Especially since I see so many ppl having the same issue.

Yep. I felt the same way. It took me a couple of weeks to figure it out and
3 days to make it work. But haven't had a problem since fixing it. U have
to keep the screens from going into sleep mode. That's the trick.

I'm telling U the truth though..The ONLY way it will work is going through
USB/computer. And U have to be signed into your Fitbit account through the
app on your computer too.

I'm telling you the truth.  Fitbit is a piece of dung.  They have had issues for years and did not address them.  Now that Google owns Fitbit, they will get addressed but should lose a good portion of their customer base as there are plenty of other players in this space.  Their goal was for often replacement rather than a solid product and they should pay the consequences for that bonehead move.
