My fit bit versa lite is showing a red X and the message: Data not cleared Sync & try again message. I cant get passed this screen. It wont sync when in the app either shows a red exclamation point. I have deleted the Fitbit app on my phone and unpaired it from bluetooth. I'm on a Samsung s9.

I have tried all of the suggestions to reset fitbit versa 2 that are listed in these forums and the data not cleared sync & try again continues to appear. It is stuck on that one screen. Thanks for any help. Can't contact customer support since I don't use twitter.

Thank you, it worked!!
For those having trouble with the steps:
Put watch on charge
Delete from bluetooth
Delete device off app
Re-add device
*do all this on the charge*
Update tracker
And voila 🙂

How exactly can I do this when the **ahem** Versa comes back to this screen after rebooting? Seriously... I've owned almost every Fitbit since Flex. Check my device history. Almost every one has gone toes up right ouside of the warranty period, and like a dumbass, I kept buying them. Well, no longer. I'm done. I'm going to Garmin. They got hacked and their **ahem** still works. What's your excuse?
Oh... thanks for getting rid of email support too.
Stop gaslighting your users by telling them "this will solve your issue" and completely blowing them off when they say it doesn't work.

After trying to factory rest my Android-tethered Versa last week, I too got the dreaded "Data not cleared sync & try again" message. After fuming about have to eat another $200 from FitBit, I tried something wild. I happen to have my personal Android phone, and an on-call iPhone. I was able to connect my Versa to my iPhone. It was a little touch and go, as it seemed to hang once or twice, but it eventually worked. Now I will try unpairing my backup Charge 3 from my Android and migrating my Versa back to my Android. It seems to work except that I cannot install any of my previously purchased clock faces.
I'm still going to switch to Garmin.

Hasn't worked with my Fitbit versa lite. Also switches itself off, comes back on with same issues. Force stopped app, restarted phone, unistalled app, reinstalled, downloaded again still same issues and now this error message. Sent DM on Twitter.

That fixed the problem for me! Thank you so much. I did just want to add that I did not have to remove the app from my phone and reinstall. I just repaired Versa 2 to phone in bluetooth settings. I was given a message that said I already had a device paired and did I have another. I answered yes and all seems well. My Fitbit is charging and now shows all info.on screen again. Thank you again for sharing this fix.

Good solution.
How did you remove the device?
Also, when trying, and setting up the device again, it tells me that the email address is already assigned.
How do you get around this?
Thanks
