on Wednesday my versa lite started losing time but everything seemed to be working. Since then it has stopped syncing. I have tried numerous restarts with no joy. It appears that the fitbit has stopped sending a signal as my phone is not able to discover it via Bluetooth. Any thoughts?

While reading your post, I was wondering if you've checked that your Versa Lite is still paired to your account? It seems that it's not and that's why you're getting those trouble. To check it out, tap the Today tab > your profile picture > your device image (see if your Versa is connected and when was the last time it synced).
If your watch is no paired, please set it up again by following the steps at: How do I set up my Fitbit device?
In case you continue having syncing difficulties, please follow the troubleshooting steps provided here: Why won't my Fitbit device sync?
