I have had my lite for 5 years and have had no issues, I got a Sense 2 and gave the lite to my daughter she wore it one day and it seems the battery dies but I have tried to charge it and nothing lights up and I have held the button down for a long while and still nothing is working?

Hi there, @arobinsona1. Welcome to the Fitbit Community Forums. I'm sorry to hear that your daughter's Versa Lite is still not turning on despite the steps you've tried so far. I appreciate you took the time to fix this issue before reaching out here, I will do my best to help you both.
Sometimes a Fitbit doesn’t seem to be charging when actually the issue is that it has become unresponsive (this can happen if the battery has been allowed to discharge completely). I'd recommend putting it on to charge on a charging wire and outlet known to be working. Leave it on the charger for a good two hours, even if it doesn’t seem to be charging.
When it has had two hours, try restarting the Versa Lite. I would recommend trying this maybe twice in a row if a first try doesn’t work.
If the above doesn't work, it could be a sign the contacts need cleaning. Dust and debris can accumulate over time. Clean the charging contacts on the back of the device and the pins on the charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
