I usually track my bike rides on my versa lite. Up until 2 weeks ago, it worked fine. Now when I start a bike workout, the watch will continue to say “connecting” and won’t link to the gps on my iPhone 8+. When I open the app on my iPhone, it connects. But the moment I lock the screen, the watch says “connecting” again, and will not reconnect until I unlock the phone and open the app again. I realize that the app needs to run in the background, but this has never been an issue in the several months since purchasing the new watch. The workout feature is useless to me if I have to keep the app open the whole time.
I have all of the recent updates including the most recent app update and iOS update. I have even tried re-pairing through bluetoooth. I have searched the community for solutions and cannot find a fix. Please help.

Hi @tjacks17, due to recent events, I apologize for the delayed response. However, let me welcome you to our Fitbit community.
I'd like to follow up and help you with your Versa Lite since it won't connect with GPS when the display locks. By the way, thank you for troubleshooting this issue before contacting our forums.
If you haven't done so, please restart your Versa Lite as described in this help article. Also, I'd like you to check out this help page, which explains how the GPS feature works on your Fitbit Versa Lite.
Finally, monitor the GPS feature on your watch during the next bike ride and let me know how it goes.
See you around.

I’m having he same issue. I have restarted my watch, have the latest update and have restarted my phone as well. The GPS links and works great as long as my phone is not locked - as soon as it locks it loses the connection.
