Versa Lite won't hold a charge

I have had my Versa Lite for 18 months, it used to last for 3 or 4 days on a charge which recently has been decreasing, now it needs charging twice a day,it spends more time charging than it does recording my steps. I have tried everything that the help centre has suggested to no avail, so it is destined for the trash can which is probably the best place for this peice of expensive junk, suffice to say I will never buy another Fitbit and would not recommend one to anybody contemplating buying a tracker.
