@elcol1 Welcome! It's good that the community is growing! 

Let me help you with your swim recording on your Versa lite. Your device detects activities based on the motion on your arm. The automatic detection is a feature called SmartTrack. For example when using the elliptical machine make sure you have the moving bars so your device detects the motion and record the activity itself, once an Elliptical activity is saved on your account it should show on the Recent Exercise area. Still you can manually log your activity so you have a record on your account.

I got some news for you none of the Fitbit track swimming I had 3 they keep double-talking and none of them work. Fitbit stick bit time after several calls and a lot of double talks back and forth I give up and there not cheap either. I am so disgusted with this product I can't begin to tell you.
