Versa Pre-ordered: a couple of questions

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Didn't like the look of the Ionic when it came out - and to be fair I thought it very expensive, obviously Fitbit going for a piece of the Apple Watch market - but I do like the look of the Versa and it's price isn't too bad. This tempted me to pre-order one, and I'm looking forward to getting it. Just a couple of things to ask though, for those of you who may know.

1) I'll be keeping my Blaze for use at work and wearing the Versa at all other times (including swimming now too, yay). How does the app know which tracker I'm wearing? Will I have to tell it? (Android, Samsung)

2) Will the apps and clock faces for the Ionic work with the Versa or will we have to wait for the debs to catch up and update their creations for the Versa? Looking at the dev portal and playing with the simulator, I think I know the answer to this, but just checking

The app will try and sync with both trackers and then it will automatically filter out any overlap. Personally I have trouble with multi tracker mode, for some reason it causes me sync issues. What I do is keep my main tracker on my account all the time and add the secondary device if and when I want to use it. You may have better experiences with it, I think the phone itself can be a big factor.

As for apps and clock faces, fitbit studio has made it very simple for developers to ensure their creations work on both devices. Also from what I can see, alot of devs have already "ported" their work over to the Versa. If you use twitter it's worth checking out the hashtag #FitbitVersa to see what's cooking.

I have two trackers and have an HTC 10, running Android 8.0.0 and the latest version of the Fitbit app. I haven't had too many issues with it syncing to the trackers - but like N8teGee's idea of just adding the second tracker when you want to use it.

What I tend to do is when I know I'll be swapping trackers, I'll do a manual sync with the tracker that I'm wearing (and I do it before I have both trackers within reach of the phone). If I do that, and then sync again when I have both trackers and am about to swap, I find that the app syncs and gets the correct stats.

I can answer the first part of the question, and yes, I also have a Samsung.

Fitbit has "Multi-Tracker Support", which means that you can have more than one tracker tied to one account.  However, if the trackers are the same model, only one tracker will be able to sync with the account at a time.

I have an Alta HR and an Ionic, and once I sync one, both trackers will update, even though the syncing process will take a little longer.  They will even share the same Dashboard and update accordingly.

The Ionic now has a lot of really great Clock Faces (many free and some trialpay).  I have spoke to several of the 3rd party developers and they are already busy creating and submitting Versa Clock Faces!  When the Ionic rolled out, we had a long wait, prior to anything 3rd party being released (as one would expect), but that is not suppose to be the case with the Versa.  Things are rolling out very quickly now for the Ionic, which should be the same when Versa is released!

Hope this helped and Keep on STEPPING!

Thanks for the replies folks. It'll be good to have some options for faces as soon as it arrives. That's one thing that's been disappointing with my Blaze, after all the promise of new faces they just stopped giving us any.

Might even work on one myself - I have one half designed - bit just need to figure out the correct language for accessing the user data. Not much in-depth documentation around yet for developing for FitbitOS

I remember reading somewhere that if you pre-order it comes in March or early April, is this true?
