Update 1/20/2021: We've updated to 100%
We started releasing Fitbit OS 4.2.1 to Versa, Versa Lite, and Versa 2 customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases aren't distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
Read our help article for the latest updates.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Find step-by-step instructions for updating Versa smartwatch here.

I believe that the update has broken the sleep data sync. Over the past few days, I can only get simplified sleep data on the app, even though I'm a Premium subscriber. Not even basic phases. It is on 35.72.1.9. I have tried both restarting and restoring, and neither works. What to do now? Is there any way to revert to the last firmware?

As I understand it once you've updated the firmware it is impossible to revert to a previous version. I'm being cautious and not doing the update.

Same! I am so pissed right now. The harder I work the lower it shows my HR. I depend on this stupid thing to know calories burned but since the update this morning...my workout has been a waste.

Good move. I don't recall actually telling it to update in any case.

And so it continues.... another workout today, with totally incorrect HR readings therefore leading to half the ZM's expected. Literally half of what i was getting before on every single workout. By now im normally well over the 150 recommended mins mark, this week not even close! To be clear, this has only been an issue since the firmware update. I had no ongoing issues prior to this.
My Versa 2 is just over a year old and for a fitness watch it is now rendered almost useless without the correct readings.
Can we get confirmation that someone is looking at this please? I understand this needs to be reviewed of course but just some recognition of the issues many of us seem to be having would be good.
Thabk you

Update appeared on the Versa app on my cellphone (Galaxy S20FE) today(21/01/21). I clicked on (Update Tracker) and then the app shows only a RED circle spinning endlessly. When I go into my Account on the Fitbit app on Cell it shows a red download beside the Versa but nothing shows on the next screen when I hit the download button. Up to today, I was EXTREMELY happy with the way my Versa ran with my new cellphone. Now completely bummed. Please correct this.

Same here, it takes a half hour of cardio or peak workout to even register a “ fat burn”. I think the firmware was to get us to buy a new watch? No problems at al, for 18 months. If they don’t fix it I’m switching platforms. Buying a new Fitbit watch will only work until a newer model comes out and they start choking the last one.
is this what we get now that Google has taken over?
the Fitbit platform was the best for fitness, let’s hope that they bring it back to that.

I’m having the same problem. Guess we wait.

I updated my Fitbit Versa Lite and since then my screen is black and I can't do anything with it. =( Have restarted the watch several times and I get the logo when it restarts but then the screen just goes black again.

The update went fine. I charged the watch for about 10 minutes. When I looked at the clock face there was missing information. When I tapped the face I got a "clock error". I tried to install another clock and it couldn't find the watch. I did a soft reset and now my watch is stuck slowly flashing the fitbit icon. Cannot do anything else with it. The watch isn't even a year old and is now totally useless.

I had this problem yesterday. I had to do a factory reset and re-update and its fine now.

Unfortunately I tried all of that, including working with fitbit. The watch won't factory reset and there are not functions available. Glad it worked for you though.

@slotoo If your watch is less than a year old surely it is still under warranty? I would get onto Fitbit support.

Updated firmware the other day on Versa to Firmware 32.72.1.9, now the HR monitor stopped working. I tried everything including a factory reset without any luck.

further my previous post re erratic heart rate and draining battery, i contacted support by twitter. I realised the heart rate light is stuck on, the red one at the rear of the fitbit, no green light for it being active. they suggested a complete factory reset which i did, disconnected and reconnected from phone, it did not work and now the whole unit is sluggish. i'm waiting for the battery to go flat and see if then it will turn off. twitter support team very helpful but have referred on to central support and im waiting to hear back from them.

My zone minutes are also all out of whack… I normally earn two or 300 a day as I am constantly running at work… Burned over 3000 cal get around 30,000 steps. Nothing has changed but yet I am earning 37 minutes??????

After the update, I noticed the battery drains faster than ever. Usually my watch lasts 3-4 days on average after a full charge. Now it lasts for 2 days. Done with rebooting. I hope this gets fixed. Fitbit now made by Google.
If this is not resolved, perhaps the best solution just like for many other Fitbit users is to get an Apple, Samsung, Garmin, Suunto, Polar or Chinese brand.

Same. Did the update yesterday. Did an intense workout this morning and it never registered my heart rate above 105. Yesterday it ping ponged from 105 to 160 every 30 seconds...my graph looked ridiculous. This is the final straw for me. My hear rate monitor has always been sub-par, taking a long time to catch up to my actual heart rate. It has already been replaced once and the new one was no different.

Does anyone know if this(the messed up HR monitor) is something that the warranty would cover?
