Update 9/3/2020: This update should now be available to all customers. If you have any difficulty updating, make sure you are following the directions in this article, and then provide as many specific details as possible in your post so that we can assist.
We've started rolling out Fitbit OS 4.2 Firmware Update (71.6.19) for the Versa series.
We release firmware updates to all customers in phases. The update will be available to everyone soon, and a banner will appear in the app when you can install the update. If you don’t see the banner yet, check the app again later.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
Release notes can be found here.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa device can be found here.
We recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.

Moments ago I finally received the update firmware banner in the app (Android). With all of the problems everyone is experiencing I have opted to not install it. My only regular issue is when I bike the GPS funtion takes forever to Connect to phone and then constantly disconnects leaving me with a highly inaccurate bike ride stats and messed up map. I might just use strava outside of the app since I have no GPS issues using that app.
I wish the moderators would respond to why so many people are having issues in general but especially with this firmware update. A statement from the company is really what should be posted here with some details about why this is happening and what is being done to correct it. This is absolutely poor business practice.

I’m on my 3rd replacement one charge 2 and charge 3, searching this forum to try decide my 50% off model.... seems like they are all as bad as each other. I’m 4 fit it’s in, average lifespan 6 months, absolutely disgraceful, wouldn’t be so bad if they extended the warranty to 12 months for replacements! My last one lasted 2 months!

Before posting its worth a read through this thread? On the day you do the update active minutes are all messed up. On subsequent days you should get correct active zone minutes OK. In my case these are almost always higher than the old active minutes because of the doubling up in higher heart rate zones.

@Mrswebb It's not a problem, it's a transition. I didn't like at first when it went to zone minutes instead of active minutes, because I already had over 500 active minutes just from Sunday and Monday and my weekly zone minutes was 0. But I quickly found out I'll trump the old active minutes in zone minutes. Finished last week with over 1500 zone minutes in 5 days. The active minutes are still there, I just didn't get weekly credit for them under zone minutes last week.

I did this update and now all of my exercise tracking is wrong. It's saying I'm below zones when I'm in fat burn.

I don't understand why they don't halt the update and release a statement. Cell phone companies do it all the time when users start reporting issues folling the update. One of the main reasons updates are rolled out in waves or sections is not just due to bandwidth limitations but to prevent a bad update being installed by all users at the same time. This update has continued for nearly a month and there's no statement from Fitbit and no halting. I just don't get it. Bad management or they just don't care. Either way, we the consumer get the shaft. Sad.

Hi everyone! I'm sorry to hear about the inconveniences you've been having with your AZM.
Please note that heart-rate tracking can be affected by several factors including air temperature and device location on your arm For more information, see: What factors can affect my heart-rate reading on my Fitbit device?
Also, keep in mind that in the latest update you can now earn Active Zone Minutes and use personalized heart-rate zones when you track activity with your smartwatch. For more information, see What are Active Zone Minutes or active minutes on my Fitbit device? and How do I track my heart rate with my Fitbit device?

Updated versa2 now it won’t sync the time. It’s been about 10 minutes off ever since. Restarted, synced many times tried other things from the suggestions on the web and still nothing. Even changed time zones and it’s still 10 minutes off.

Just updated (including taking iOS app release 3.29, as well), and first blush is that all is good -
And yes, you may think the following may not be on topic - but I believe it is because of what the new firmware brings to the forefront - Heart Rate Reserve.
The ability to set a Custom Max Heart rate in the FitBit app is of paramount concern to Cardiovascular Patients taking Beta Blockers, as the maximum heart rate for those individuals is 80% of the traditional value of 220 - age. See Harvard Medical School's Harvard Health Letter from November of last year.
Interesting enough, the fat burn and cardio zone definitions in the last row match my Cardiologist's statement this morning when he said he was happy to see me hitting high 90s and low 100s in my treadmill sessions, saying that was the best range for me and to not go above 110 for any length of time.

I am in the same boat. Stuck on the FitBit logo and not tracking. Reset and hard reset did not work. Also tried repairing it with my device and nothing. Please help!

I was able to update my Versa today with the new OS, but when I did it erased my active minutes for the day. Is there any way to get those minutes back? Or show that I was physically active for, I know I saw 66 minutes, maybe more, not sure since they were erased 😞
