Update 9/3/2020: This update should now be available to all customers. If you have any difficulty updating, make sure you are following the directions in this article, and then provide as many specific details as possible in your post so that we can assist.
We've started rolling out Fitbit OS 4.2 Firmware Update (71.6.19) for the Versa series.
We release firmware updates to all customers in phases. The update will be available to everyone soon, and a banner will appear in the app when you can install the update. If you don’t see the banner yet, check the app again later.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa device can be found here.
We recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.

I updated yesterday and now my Today app is useless. Refuses to update on my Versa Lite. Sleep data, heart rate zones, and exercise octagon are all stuck on the day before the update. I've turned Bluetooth off and on, restarted the device on and off the dock, changed wifi connections, unpaired and repaired the device, nothing has worked.
HELP.

Same with mine! At first I didn't notice it because it was only two minutes off, then was ahead by three, and now it's an entire hour behind.. nothing I've tried has fixed it, and now it's causing me to be behind in a challenge I'm on.. hopefully it gets fixed soon!

Yesterday the update finally started installing but lost connection before finishing. My tracker is showing the latest version but still wont sync. Last time I was able to email fitbit for help but can't see this option now. How do I contact them?

I experienced a firmware update failure. My Versa seemed to be okay, but, the following day I noticed I wasn't getting text or call notifications. As the day wore on, it also lost more time. When I left work, it was almost an hour behind. I tried restarting it, logging my phone on and off and was unable to reestablish communication between the phone and the watch. I next tried a reset to factory settings. I figured I'd set it up again and just start fresh. The unit at this point had been fully charged. It didn't work out quite the way I'd hoped. It seems to be dead now. I can hold the back and bottom buttons for more than 30 seconds and get no response at all. Thankfully, I kept my $15 Casio, I can at least keep accurate time.

So it's a long weekend and I went gambling and tried the update. First I shut off all Bluetooth devices so the Versa (1) wouldn't get confused, kept on the one device I would sync with. Then I shut off all things using Wi-Fi so there were no drains on the signal. I stuck a chicken in a bag and swung it over my head three times and yelled whoop whoop. Rebooted by routers. The update took less than 5 minutes. Ran smoothly. The watch rebooted without issue. Still testing all the features so far it won't find my phone not sure how that works. I said it's over there but the watch didn't listen. It shuts down and restarts normally again without a battery drain. It appears to be doing step count okay. 1,2,3,4, I'm exhausted. Tried swimming yesterday that actually worked better. Can someone please repost the link that shows the update information like the new features and fixes. Thanks I'll keep testing, Let's where's that crash test?

Add another Versa casualty to the firmware update I guess. Although, I have to say I haven't quite seen what happened to my tracker here; after the firmware update it still syncs, the phone sees it, it's still tracking, it still charges, and the screen comes on, displays, and responds, but I have NO text, only graphics. So, for example, after I changed the clock face to one of the default Fitbit faces as suggested to resolve (Chronograph), I ONLY have the dials displayed, nothing else. Less than helpful. 😛 When I swipe for notifications, only the horizontal rules are displayed, no notification content. When I swipe right the icons for apps are displayed, but when I access any of them, again, there's no text so I can't really do anything further. A soft reset got me absolutely nothing. Before the firmware update it was perfectly fine and battery life was going string, so I wasn't looking to upgrade any time soon.
I tried chatting with an agent this morning, and it appears the only solution is a replacement or a discount on a new tracker. I was really hopeful there was a fix for this firmware update, especially since the tracker is still responding. Well, kinda. I mean, it's only MOSTLY dead.

Clicked on Extending battery but no luck. I have the Versa 2 and I don't even get 24 hours on a full charge since the update.

Did my versa update a couple days ago and noticed yesterday that it was 6 hours behind and wouldn't sync. Have had an issue with every Fitbit I have had over the years so tried everything to get it to sync and nothing. Even did a factory reset, now I have a over priced braclet
