Update 9/3/2020: This update should now be available to all customers. If you have any difficulty updating, make sure you are following the directions in this article, and then provide as many specific details as possible in your post so that we can assist.
We've started rolling out Fitbit OS 4.2 Firmware Update (71.6.19) for the Versa series.
We release firmware updates to all customers in phases. The update will be available to everyone soon, and a banner will appear in the app when you can install the update. If you don’t see the banner yet, check the app again later.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa device can be found here.
We recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article.

update: After spending about an hour on chat with support, they suggested a factory reset and it worked for me. (at least I can see things other than graphics now, and it seems to be syncing ok) From what I have seen in the forums, you mileage can certainly vary. Good luck to everyone. I still can't understand why they simply will not push a firmware rollback to the last working version for the folks that it caused problems for.

My Versa 2 is giving me FAR too many one minutes since the update. I an elderly but I keep climbing 30 floors each day and having 200 or more zone minutes. This is ALL FAKE! I've had the Versa 2 for a year. I like it fine, but the update for floors and zone minutes is a BIG problem. I think Fitbit needs to admit they screwed up and do an update to the update.

Unlike some folks, I am getting 130 to 200 zone minutes per day for lazing around the house! This is all fake. I do not like it. In theory, zone minutes should be better, but they do not work for me. I am elderly and I should not get 200 zone minutes in one day. Floors have also gone crazy. One day since the update, I climbed 66 floors. Only I did not do that. Floors are also fake. I did a restart and that did not help at all.
I still like my Versa 2 and I am not trashing it, but I think Fitbit needs to do an update to the update.
If it actually worked as you described, tht would be great. It does not do that for me.

These seems to be what is going on with mine. Trying to get the app to reload to my phone now. It's taking an extra long time to load the fitbit app back to my phone. It will not charge, so I'm hopeful based on your post it will get working again.
Update 2 hours later. Now I just feel completly screwed, and my Fitbit logo just keeps taunting me with it's logo but nothing else. I can no longer get it to find my synch via bluetooth or fitbit, device is not giving off a signal for them to find it....just the lovely taugnting fitbit logo. Forcing myself to just forget it for today.

Ever since I did the update, when I track my exercise, after 0.5 miles, the watch will vibrate then shut down. I can get it up and running again, but then I lose all of the tracking. This seems like a bug...

I am not happy with this firmware update. I would prefer to see active minutes versus the zone minutes. My Versa no longer connects to the gps on my phone although the Bluetooth setting is set up correctly on both devices. My route that previously was tracking 3.5 miles is now suddenly just 2.8 miles and my minutes per mile is dramatically slower. My stats are now basically garbage. This all happened as soon as I updated the firmware. Please remove this firmware update and stopped recalculating everything. My distance should not change when I am doing the same exact route I have done for years. It is very, very frustrating!

I did the update on my Versa. It no longer shows Active Minutes. I have restarted twice. I have disconnected and reconnected the app via Bluetooth once. I also tried tapping on the Active Zone tab under Today in the Fitbit app, no success. nothing.
How do i get this fixed, so I can track my Active Minutes daily and weekly. That's really all I use it for and not having it anymore is pretty poor customer senstivity.
Please fix the issue and let us know how we can get the feature back. thanks.

Mine is doing the same. I just have a black screen. It’s like there is no power. Once I put it on the charger, sometimes I can see and do stuff with it; but once it’s off, nothing. Makes me wonder if something was wrong with update.

Updated my versa and now my Fitbit will no longer track my heart rate. Which also affects it tracking my sleep and zone minutes. I’ve already tried the hard reset and turning the heart rate feature on and off in settings.

Since updating, the device will no longer charge. I've tried 2 chargers, the factory version and am alternate. Cleaned the contacts, and reset. Still will not charge. Now at 13% battery. It will be a brick soon. Now what?

My fitbit started beging 10 minutes slow a few days ago. I did the update, hoping that would fix it, but things just got worse.
My versa is now unfindable by my phone. I've restarted it, uninstalled and re-installed the fitbitapp.
Syncing now of course impossible.
and the time keeps going slower. My Versa is now almost 3 hours slow.
This really sucks.

The problem was not solved via software resets/rollbacks/etc, but Tech
support helped! Apparently it was a battery that failed. I recommend to
CALL tech support. They are open 4am-9pm PST.
