Update 9/3/2020: This update should now be available to all customers. If you have any difficulty updating, make sure you are following the directions in this article, and then provide as many specific details as possible in your post so that we can assist.
We've started rolling out Fitbit OS 4.2 Firmware Update (71.6.19) for the Versa series.
We release firmware updates to all customers in phases. The update will be available to everyone soon, and a banner will appear in the app when you can install the update. If you don’t see the banner yet, check the app again later.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.

Release notes can be found here.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Versa device can be found here.
We recommend updating your Versa over a home Wi-Fi network as this can greatly reduce the time it can take to get set up. For more information on connecting your Versa to Wi-Fi, check out this article.
If you run into any trouble updating your Versa I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.

@Z06tim -
My heartfelt relief for your survival. Even with me worrying about heart failure during my 40-mile commute each morning and night for the 5 months between prognosis and implant, and the tests associated with the whole mess, I don't even want to think about going through what you did.
And you are correct. I apparently have an exceptional oxygen delivery system. With a LVEF of 20 and the left side of my heart only beating at the same time as the right four percent of the time (according to my ICD download data after implant), my surgeon was surprised I wasn't white as a sheet like most of his patients. Instead, I actually had slightly rosy cheeks during his pre-op visit.
And with that delivery system, my last 21 one-hour three-mph treadmill sessions had posted averages of between 82 and 93 bpm - with a RHR of 63 - so 20 to 30 bpm over resting heart rate.
And yet, I have lost 8.8 pounds in the last seven weeks after gaining five pounds in threes weeks immediately after retirement (no stress and only my normal light exercise routine during my planned "veg" period of one month). As I am sure you understand it is not just heart rate that determines weight loss. During those seven weeks I have taken in an average of 1,500 calories per day while burning a FitBit calculated 2,770 calories per day. I have also made the effort to reduce sugar intake and increase protein intake based on the increased exercise regimen and the timing of carb intake to make sure that protein goes where it needs to go. I probably would have lost a little more weight if it wasn't for the occasional "cheat day".
And as far as motivation, I have never treated the active minutes as motivation, but rather a guide stick - it is my job to make sure my active time is time well spent. My motivation is the start of getting my 6-pack back and losing the "love handles".
Maybe I should just say "to heck with it" and take the firmware update and not track AZM by completely taking it off the Today screen in my app and ignore the detail in my exercise records.
After all, it's my data and I can ignore it if I want to.
Good luck to all.

Versa V.1 Os 32.70.8.0
First the update was there then it wasn't. I connected to the application and it said there was an update but it had to finish synchronizing. After synchronizing the update notice was gone. Nothing Nada no update. Where did it go?

Everyone keeps referencing 32.x.x.x as the version #. My Versa 2 is showing 35.70.8.0. And the app version (Android) is showing as 3.27. If the new version is 32.71.6.19 does that mean my Versa 2 will NOT be getting an update since my prefix starts w 35? Also is 4.2 the new App version? I'm so confused 😕.

I think you just drop the number at the beginning. So you're on 70.8.0? I'm guessing the prefix may be different for each Versa variant.

My Fitbit is still on Firmware Version 35.70.7.21. I had the notification for a while to update to the previous firmware but now that is gone and it says my Fitbit is up to date, which makes no sense when it's not on the current version. I wondering if I will receive the latest firmware update notification?

So my app (Android) just updated to v3.28 (was 3.27) but so far no updates for my Versa 2 (still on 35.70.8.0). Msg thread seems lite on Fitbit Moderators commenting today. Where does the 4.2 fit in?

Hello everyone!
Please note that the previous version for Fitbit Versa Smartwatches is 32.70.8.0 for Versa, 35.70.8.0 for Versa 2, and 38.70.8.0 for Versa Lite Edition. Sorry for the misunderstanding, you may think you missed some updates, but we didn't add the "32" in the title and the three smartwatches have a different number at the beginning (32,35, and 38). The confusion can come from there.
As we've mentioned in the main post of this thread, firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend troubleshooting your watch to force the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download, it hasn't been released to 100%, we're still rolling it out.
Hi there @Dwalk, I understand where your frustration is coming from, I'm sorry to hear that you're having issues with your Versa Lite after the update. I've seen that you contacted our Support Team after posting here to report about this situation. Please keep a lookout in your inbox to the email address associated with this Fitbit account. Someone will be in contact with you as soon as possible since our support options are limited and wait times are longer than usual.
Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Thank you for clearing most of that up. My remaining question is regarding OS 4.2. Is that the app version. Like I mentioned earlier, my app just went from v3.27 to v3.28. Do I need to wait until it updates to 4.2 before the watch can receive an update? The confusion is because the watch firmware is 71.6.19. So where does 4.2 show up and fit in to all of this?

Hi there @ktklein72, thanks for getting back. For a better understanding to your inquiries, please see these help articles: What's changed in the latest Fitbit OS update?, What's changed in the latest Fitbit device update?. The Fitbit version is 71.6.19 and the Operating System (OS) is 4.2. In regards to the latest version of the Fitbit app, you can find that information here for Android and here for iOS.
Hope that clarifies your inquiries.

My Versa 2 keeps disconnecting from my phone. I have to delete the app from my phone, then turn my phone off, then power it back on, reinstall the app, put the Versa on the charger, then pair it to my phone. I have had to do this 3 times in the past 2 days. As a software programmer, I would say this is a GIGANTIC FAIL.

I want to revert to the « old » active minutes. The new active minutes zone screwed up all my previous active minutes records, as well as my hearth frequence in my last 3 workouts...
Please let me get back my previous activities records!
Oh, once last thing...the new active minutes zone does not even work.
Thank you for Your help.

I just bought a Versa Lite yesterday, and downloaded the Fit Bit App from the Google Play Store. (Samsung S10+ phone,,)
My new device says it's running version 38.33.1.30 and my newly downloaded app says it's version 3.27.
My new device and app are running versions that are nowhere near the new one being released! I can't install most apps, esp Spotify and this is making for an extremely frustrating experience. I don't even have the improvements of older updates (e.g. managing watch faces on the watch)
When I check there is no option for me to update and my app tells me that my Versa Lite is up to date.
How is it possible that I have such old software on my watch? And why does it think I'm up to date? I hoping for a device I could use right out of the box and I feel like I've bought a brick..
When do you expect the update to be rolled out to everyone,?

Got my new Versa 2 going again. Discovered that I cannot do the update via my HP Windows 10 laptop using the Microsoft Store version of the FitBit app. If I am using that app I can't select watch faces and I can't update anything. Instead, I loaded FitBit app onto my daughter's LG Q7 mobile phone using the Google Play store and then logged in using it. The Google Play app found the watch straight away and began the update. It is all good now. I can choose and load clock faces on her phone too, but as soon as I try to do any app or clock changes on my laptop using the Microsoft Store Fit bit app - nothing. There are some serious issues with the way the FitBit app connects to the tracker from the Windows 10 PC app from the Microsoft store.

@chris2121 Hey Chris, are your active zones showing now, a day or 2 after the update? Same thing happened me, i updated last night after having had a load of active minutes yesterday, then seemed to lose them all. Hopefully mine reverts to normal today. Cheers
