Versa - Unlock with phone taking a long time

After changing my daughters watchband,there is a message to 'Unlock with Your Phone'.  I have gone into the Fitbit app on her phone, selected Unlock Device and for past 25 minutes it has been saying 'Preparing' with the moving circle underneath, like it is doing something.  Any ideas what could be wrong, as wouldn't have thought it would take this long to 'prepare'?

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and sharing the difficulty you're experiencing with unlocking your daughter's watch with her phone. Thanks for trying to resolve this and I am here to help. Usually you get the message 'Unlock with Your Phone' if you enter an incorrect PIN code 10 times. I appreciate the additional details and recommend to do the following:

 

  1. Force quit the Fitbit app. 
  2. Verify if the Fitbit app is updated to the latest version. For instructions, see this help article.
  3. Reboot the phone.
  4. Open the Fitbit app and try to unlock the device again by following instructions at How do I unlock my Fitbit device with my phone?
