You will have same result whichever one you choose.  Neither will work because the update will ruin both.

Hello,

I've been having all these issues with my Fitbit Versa Lite - screen freezing until the battery is dead and then once it's charged it would only work properly for say 5 minutes. Sometimes it also restarted on its own. I got in touch with Fitbit support who issues a replacement. I was so excited to get the replacement. Got it last week. I had issues with setup because my app needed updating etc. Did the setup and it's been working fine until yesterday. I've run into the same issues as before. I was so angry this morning I got onto Fitbit chat and they've issues another replacement or a 50% discount off another device. I do not know what the best thing to do now is? Would you be able to advise? Is there something I'm missing somewhere? I've read articles about firmware updates but the watch won't work long enough for me to check which version I have or to update it. Please help!

It is a bad update that will ruin every fitbit you download it to.  They seem to have no intention to fix it.  I j ave been waiting for a fix since last november.  Do not waste your money.

@AlessFitbit- really quick question - I've just looked and my Versa Lite is on firmware version 38.70.7.27. I've read you are rolling out an update. May sound dumb - but will it come up on my app when I received this update to install it, or do I need to go looking for it. Having issues with my 2nd versa lite in 5 months just freezing and being unresponsive. Can't do anything with it. Will the new update solve this issue? Fitbit support have offered me a replacement. Would a replacement device already have this update on it? Or would I run into the same issues?

Exactly.  The firmware update will just ruin the device.  They all have bad coding.  Look at all the issues with folks that have a Versa 2 after they did the second firmware update specifically for that device.

Go with a different brand.

@JuanJoFitbitthanks so much for your reply. Yes, they have issued me with another replacement device. I must say though, I'll be a bit reluctant in putting it on as I'm frightened for these issues to happen again. I'm assuming that I've not been issued the OS 4.1.2 firmware update on my current device, because it isn't currently on that firmware. I'm assuming I would be told to do the update if I had? When the OS 4.1.2 update comes through, would it get rid of the issues around the screen freezing? Or was it not intended for those types of issues?

I personally wouldn’t. I had no issues with my versa until I did. I just bought me the versa 2 which since this is my 4 th Fitbit quite possibly will be my last. I haven’t seen a update for my new one but better believe I will never do another one. After doing update it literally died a slow death from battery drained, then screen not working to touch to no screen at all. It was just barely out of warranty so they don’t help you. Even though I know it was that that did it. As well as everyone else. I wish I had looked or asked in my groups before I had did it!

@Lotizzoo

Hi, this firmware update is specifically for the original Versa and Versa Lite.

There is another post regarding the firmware update specifically for the Versa 2.

Regardless of the fact that it's two separate firmware updates, both have caused and are causing issues to the Versa line of devices. As you can see in all the posts in this thread as well as the posts for the Versa 2 firmware update.

As @Lotizzoo mentioned this update has caused major issues with the Versa and Versa Lite.  Even if you get a replacement it will still not work since it a bad firmware with coding issues.

I personally haven't and won't do this or any future firmware updates. It's not worth having to deal with all the issues folks have encountered and loosing the functionality of their device.

My suggestion is to review the posts under the firmware update for the Versa 2 and all other posts regarding this device that folks are encountering and decide if you want to take a chance doing the update.

Hi

I updated my new versa 2 . And it just wouldn't work right so I tried a reset unfortunately it bricked wouldn't turn on was completely dead I managed to get a replacement from the store I brought it from

I updated my new replacement (with bated breath)..and so far after a month of having the new firmware it works great better sleep score better battery life can get a good 5 days without charging....BUT it seems I'm one of the lucky ones as this new update has been horrendous for a lot of versa 2 owners

I would wait..let the updates work out the kinks see if Fitbit releases a statement about the update problem

If you are happy with how your versa 2 is working at the moment then wait do more research etc

Thank you, Newtripley! That info is helpful and I was chatting with Fitbit Support as you were replying! He told me that it was not necessary to do the update and yet, if I did and needed assistance for problems they would be there to help!
I mentioned that many people had not received what they felt was "help" and that made me nervous...so we decided that I would just wait and see if things work out better with the update.

My firmware is 35.68.9.15 and all seems good at this time. Functions, battery, syncing~~ so far so good.  I just got it on Sunday...

Thanks again.
