I place my Versa on the bathroom sink at night. When I woke up this morning, the watch showed literally over 10,000 steps and a heart rate of 93bpm before I even put it on. How is this possible?

My Versa has been doing the same thing.Last week I charged it overnight and it calculated 34K steps while I slept. They asked me if it was sitting on something that was vibrating or moving. Last night I didn't even charge it and it calculated almost 12K. Hope they figure it out soon.

Hey guys! Welcome to the Community!
@jadabe, sounds odd that your Versa is counting steps and heart rate by it's own. But don't you worry, I'd like to ask you if there was any fan or anything that may have been buzzing or vibrating on the same surface where your Versa as placed on. If that was the case, please place it in a different surface. If even after trying that, the issue persists, let me know.
@SC2811, in your case my friend, if you haven't place your Versa close to a buzzing or vibration surface, then I'd like to know if you have any other Fitbit device paired with your account? If so, could you please try to unpair that other device and let me know if the issue persists?
Keep me posted guys!

It is worse than others have mentioned:
1. I took my watch off and had a shower. Later I found it had record a pulse rate of 80 bpm while lying on my desk.
2. I also have an erroneous sleep record, ie the sleep record included time I spent in the shower. (I have sleep sensitivity set to Normal.)
But it KNOWS when I am not wearing it. I know this because, after I take it off, it knows it needs the PIN code entered again. So if it KNOWS it is not being worn, it is hardly a difficult programming job to make it DISCOUNT the off-wrist time with regard to recording:
a. sleep time
b. pulse rate
c. steps walked
As for why 80 bpm while I was not wearing it, it was near a computer monitor (LCD type) while lying on my desk. I have a suspicion that it was picking up fluctuating light from the monitor and interpreting it as a heart beat. (Not that the monitor is doing 80 bpm.) Just a theory.
But regardless of that, given that the watch KNOWS when it is not on a wrist, it is NOT an acceptable excuse for Fitbit to say that it must not be put down on a non-vibrating surface.
