I just purchased the new Versa. I have owned the Ionic and I would like to have both watched attached to the same account. However, when trying to set up the versa, it asks me if I am replacing the Ionic and doesn't give me an option to add it to my account. I can only replace my ionic. I did it, but now my Ionic is not connected. How can I get it connected as well.
Thank you,

Do you have to do a complete setup each time or once you have them setup, just remove one to get the other?

When you try to add the second one it asks if you want to replace the first. It seems to remember some settings if has been previously set up but not all e.g. wifi. I only tried it the once to realise that it was more hassle than it was worth and have stuck to just the versa since then.

You have to go through the whole setup each time. They need to fix thus. Spread word and tell people to vote on this forum.

I wonder if the Charge 3 and versa will both be able to be linked. I have the charge 3 preordered but am interested in a Versa as well..... Hmmmmm??

I just read that the Charge 3 cannot be on the same account as Ionic and Versa, it was on a fitbit forum. here is the link.
if this is the case I can't purchase the charge 3. I was hoping charge 3 and Ionic would work but after reading this it doesn't sound like it. I have my blaze and Ionic on the same account but wanted to upgrade and can't at this point.

This is a misleading answer. I have the iconic, charge 2 and blaze under the same account.
But you can't have blaze, charge 3 or ionic under the same account which is insane, because they are water proof.
I hope they can solve this problem asap...

When you say "easily switch between the two," what do you mean?
For example, am I able to just "add" the ionic back onto my account for example? Or do I have to do the entire setup over again? Because that makes a huge difference. Thanks

I have now tried switching between the ionic and versa and so far it had been pretty easy. I just want to use the Ionic for runs/bikes with the GPS. I've switched to it (skipped wifi setup) and it switches within a minute. Switching back took about 3 minutes. I assume it will take longer when the devices have to update and have to go through the entire set up, but so far it worked fine for if I really want to use GPS!

I spoke too soon. Switching between the ionic and versa was relatively easy since neither had to be updated at the time. HOWEVER, it did not save all of my preferences. Most were saved but my 7 exercise shortcuts and my weather preferences were not saved.
I'm disappointed! I would love being able to switch to the Ionic to use GPS for workouts.

I have an Ionic and purchased the Versa after reading about Multi-Tracker support. Very disappointed to discover that it does not allow the 2 smartwatches to sync on the same account. I will continue to see how I feel about the removing and adding fix mentioned. This could all be avoided if Fitbit mentions that the Multi-Tracker does not work with 2 smartwatches and only with a smartwatch and a tracker like the charge 3. If there is a fix, it will be amazing! Fitbit should allow all of its products to be synced to 1 account. I love my Ionic and would like to use it for my peaceful running days (w/o my phone) and the Versa for everyday use since it’s lighter. It will be a bummer if I have to return the Versa.

Thanks Erick @ErickFitbit; It's too bad, I think FitBit is leaving money on the table. I just bought a Versa, hoping I could use alongside my Ionic. I am returning it - it is taking too many steps to remove one, turn the other one on; app notifications settings get reset, need to go through paring and onscreen tutorial screens again - it's not instantaneous like it is with my Charge 2.
I LOVE FitBit - owner of the original Flex, Charge HR, Surge, Blaze, Charge 2 and Ionic. Customer support is top notch and the dashboard can not be beat by anyone. Sleep tracking is a game changer. I tried the A watch and was so confused by the tracking and the multiple apps needed to do what FitBt does so elegantly in one design - i returned that one in a few hours.
Hope you can fix this someday, I'm sure there are many out there who would switch back and forth between Ionic and Versa when GPS needed and not. But no Versa for me now. 😞 I'll use the voting button in addition to these comments, thanks.

There seems to be a lot going on in this forum. The guy who just keeps touting Apple needs to do his research, they are not the bee's knee's as he thinks, in fact they are far more restrictive on many things. Ignorance is blind I guess.
Both Ionic and versa run the same software, the only difference is the hardware capabilities. By running the same software it allows easy for development for apps and watch faces across both devices with minimal issues, offering full compatibility for all users. From a development point of view this is great (something the Apple guy needs to understand as it is not a simple with his beloved company).
I imagine it may have something to do with the all day, all live Bluetooth connection, which syncs constantly with the newer devices. I know my Bluetooth struggles to find both at the same time (even on an Iphone). So it may be something that may be an issue away from Fitbit.
If this is the case then they need to come up with a better switching procedure, like clicking a button in the app that hides a device.
I'm always wary of giving developers grief because the tech challenges are usually way more complicated than anyone can imagine.
Hopefully there can be a solution going forward.

Although it is frustrating I understand the complications if the Ionic & Versa & Charge 3 are using the same OS. But now Fitbit won't even allow you to add the new Inspire tracker that replaced the Alta that is only a tracker without apps to the same account and forces you to remove the Ionic/Versa/Charge 3 first ????

The sums of money involved are significant to some people. So they will get emotional. However this is a serious issue for Fitbit and it is simply unacceptable. So just because you think it’s a non issue, I suggest you let other people have their say rather than trying trying to moderate fit Fitbit yourself. They have their employees to do that.

This isn’t solved. Stop suggesting it is. The reason people do this is to ensure they have data continuity while the other device charges. Fitbit needs to fix this issue and then they will sell more devices. Until then, I guess the solution is alternative brands.

Or to have one device for sweaty workouts and the other for their day job. Fitbit needs to fix this issue and then they will sell more devices. Until then, I guess the solution is alternative brands. Bye bye Fitbit.

Well that would sound logical except it’s not. You can have older devices and new devices on the same account and the software works it out. So that blows your theory. This is purely and simply bad code form. Each device should be uniquely identified by the code, not blanketly dealt with by a generic code base.
