Are any swimmer's happy with Versa? Mine can not track my heart rate and my laps?
Is my watch defective or is this too much?
I simply want it to count laps and measure my heart rate while i swim?
Can anyone help me????
Thanks, drowning in Versa ...

I have the same problem. No heart rate tracking during swim sessions and laps don't get counted if I use a kickboard or do certain drills. I suspect the latter is because I'm not moving my arms enough and it doesn't have GPS tracking.
Seems to work great otherwise but I'm a bit bummed because it was the swim feature I was most excited for 😞

You may find this help article useful.
Under the section WHICH SWIM STATS CAN I TRACK WITH MY FITBIT DEVICE?, you will notice it mentions heart-rate tracking is disabled during your swim workout. I believe this is due to water having the potential to cause HR tracking issues with optical sensors. So the good news is your device isn't faulty.
As for it not tracking your laps, that could be due to the following from the help article I referenced.
WHY IS MY SWIM DATA INCORRECT?
In addition to completing only a handful of laps or stopping to rest often, inconsistencies in your swim data may be caused by any of the following:
Stopping to rest midway across the pool
Resting for longer than 60 seconds after completing a pool length
Changing stroke type midway across the pool
Swimming with a kickboard or not using your hands
Swimming less than the minimum duration set to be auto-recognized
The units for the pool length setting don't match the units you use for your Fitbit settings. For example if you measure length in feet and inches, and specify a pool length in meters. For more information, see How do I update my Fitbit settings?

Yeah, so that means people who plan to do water sports in the summer can not get an accurate calorie count. The unit doesn't take heart rate in water. That's too bad. Swimming burns a great deal of calories. The heart rate is a big big part of determining the energy expenditure. It's almost a travesty.
