Since updating and installing new free Fitbit clock that records activity minutes my watch battery life lasts about 2 days whereas before it lasted double that . Is it the clock or my watch being faulty? Now when out and about it suddenly goes dead which is not very helpful when exercising .

Hello @LW22, welcome to the Fitbit Community forums.
Thank you for sharing all this information about the trouble you've been having with the Versa not holding a charge for too long. The battery can last up to 4+ days; because battery life is affected by use and other settings, actual results may vary.
Before considering other options, please make sure that you've followed the steps provided in this article to extend battery life. In addition, try to perform a restart following the steps listed here, this has been useful for other users experiencing something similar.
Since you mentioned the problem started after you started using a certain clock face, please make sure to try changing the clock face option that you've selected on your Charge 3 device following the steps listed here and check if you're still having the same problem.
Keep me posted on the outcome.

I am not using the Spo2 clock face during the day. I am using a simple clock face now.
It is not using much power at all.

My battery seems to not last as long, but at least yours still works. I updated to the 02 sensor update and was left with a 99% charged but not rebooting tracker. After update it stopped tracking my steps I did a hard reboot and it never came back on?
I called and they stated I would have to buy a new watch? It was working fine prior! It was their firmware that broke my watch. No wonder Apple is getting sued for throttling older phones when a new model comes out.
I bought 6 Fitbits in my life 3 for family and 3 upgrades for myself over the years. I am switching watch brands they do not back up their product anymore.
Disappointment.
