Versa battery short life after the update

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I recently updated the software on my Versa to Firmware version: 32.70.8.0.  Ever since that time, the battery life on my Versa has degraded significantly.  Is there anyone else experiencing the same problem?  It is to the point where I have to recharge at least twice a day.

Hello there @Wxdude, welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for bringing this to my attention, I'll be glad to help you with the battery life on your Versa.

If you've noticed this started happening after the update, I'd recommend restart your watch by following these steps, then let the battery to run out until it gets 20 or 25% left so you can recharge it again. Also, I suggest the following:

  • Clean the charging contacts on the back of your device and the pins on your charging cable using the instructions in How do I clean my Fitbit device?
  • If the error "insufficient power source" appears on your device's screen, remove other devices plugged in to your power source, or plug your device in to another source.
  • Try a different USB port or a UL-certified wall charger.
  • Check the alignment and try reconnecting your device to the charging cable. For more information, see How do I charge my Fitbit device?
  • Check: Can I extend my Fitbit device's battery life?

Give this a go and let me know on the outcome.

I will give this a try, but also suggest you look to what changed in the software update.  If I go from using ~25% of the battery life each day, to 80% per day immediately after the software update, then the most likely explanation is the software update.  Not that I am cynical, but would be disappointed to learn that this was a deliberate attempt to force users to buy or upgrade their devices.

Minor improvement.  Battery goes down ~60% a day vice 80% earlier.  Given that, I strongly suggest the software update be reviewed.

Is there a way to fall back to the previous version?  My Versa had much better life under the previous version.

Hey @Wxdude, thanks for the update. I appreciate you've taken the time to follow the tips and recommendations I provided. Since none of the steps you tried have worked and there's no way to roll back the firmware update, I've created a case to get you in contact with our Support Team about this. They will be able to work with you and review your options. Please keep a lookout in your inbox to the email address associated with this Fitbit account. Someone will be in contact with you as soon as possible since our support options are limited and wait times are longer than usual.

I'll be around if you have any questions present.
