@Hopeversa default means stock app. it means the messaging app that came pre-installed on your phone. I recommend either this app or installing Google Messages. What phone and OS do you have?

@Hopeversa since there are several problems mentioned above, saying that you have the same problem might not give enough info to help.
You mention a non native texting app. This might not show up where you are expecting to see it, but if you scroll up and tap on App Notifications you will see a list of every app installed on the phone. From this list you should be able to choose your texting app.

There might be a setting in your Textra app to control how the notifications are sent.
How do these notifications show up on your phones lock screen?
Have you done a search of these boards for the term Textra, I get many hits with some as being solved.

@Hopeversa First make sure that Textra is selected under Notifications in the Fitbit mobile app. Second, make sure the Preview of the message is enabled on your phone. It means the message is displayed on the screen, in the notification centre of your phone. If you're on Samsung by default it's off. Go to your phone settings, and enable the preview.

We might also need to know which OS version, so we will know what to search for on Google
This thread is about problems with the Fitbit app or settings on your phone, it really does not have anything to do with the Versa.

@Hopeversa Can you see the text message on your phone screen? Can you read it?

When you tap the notification on the versa it should open up. Followed by the ability to respond, Clear, and open ok the phone.

1. Open Textra and tap 3 dots in the right top corner
2. Tap on Settings
3. Under Customize tap Customize Notifications
4. Scroll down to the bottom and make sure that under Privacy Show Message text and Contact are selected
5. Now go to Settings on your Android, open Notifications, then Textra, and make sure that Importance is set to High or Urgent.

I enabled the preview and can now see who sent the text and what it says, but once I tap "Open", it still only opens the entire text on my phone and not on my Versa.

@Auntyui because that's what Open button does. It opens the message on your phone NOT versa. To view more of the message text (i believe up to 250 characters more or less), you need to tap on the BODY of the notification on your Versa and not the Open button. You can take a picture of such notification on your Versa and post it here, so I can comment better.

Hello everyone. Sorry to hear that you can't read your text notifications on your Versa. Which phone are you using? Is it compatible? Try refreshing the link between your phone and your Versa by going to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there. Restart your phone and restart your device. After this try syncing them. Also, if you are using an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on. You can find additional instructions here.
Let me know how it goes!
