I too am having the same problem. I have a Versa 2 and a Samsung s10+. I use the Samsung default messaging app. Text messages are the only thing I do not get notifications for. This is getting very frustrating.
I have read thru all of the comments and made sure all settings are correct, everything is up to date.

I have the exact same issue! I have a Samsung galaxy 10+ and my text messages won't show up on my Versa, but I get notifications for everything else. I have tried everything that people have suggested and it hasn't worked. I have even called Fitbit support and tried their troubleshooting steps to no avail. I use the standard messaging app that was installed on the phone. I don't know what else to do.

I just got the Fitbit Versa lite. I have everything set on notifications. I get call notifications but no texts. I have the iPhone XR... please help me. Under my notifications in the app there is no where to set what messages are used.

@Stlpartygurl. And @Mbneal if your running Android 10 then this is something Fitbit is aware of and working on a solution.
As mentioned above @Amck17 tap the notification once, this tap will open up as much of the notification that can be opened on the watch.
Tapping the word open found on the watch is telling the versa to open the message on your phone.
Therefore if you tap the word open on the wrist, you then must pickup and unlock the phone. Once the phone is unlocked, this message will be front and center.

I have a Galaxy s9 and also use Textra. I found I had to go into the Textra settings > "Customize Notifications" > "Define Notifcation Actions". Set the "Android Heads Up Buttons" as I have below and it should work. After doing that, I was able to open my messages and quick reply to them through my Versa Lite. Hope this helps!

Had to go to my phone... open texting... click 3 lines for more... go to notifications... under Privacy it said to show Preview of messages!!!!! That's what has to be on.
