My Versa battery is charged to 90% but the Fitbit app says the battery is dead or low.

Are you checking that your watch is syncing properly? If it isn't syncing your information won't be updated on the app and I would recommend following the steps in the help article Why won't my Fitbit device sync?.

I eliminated my Versa off the app and later reloaded the Versa back on the app. This worked.
