Versa counting too many floors.

Ever since I got my Versa it seems to be grossly over exaggerating my stair count. I had the Charge 2 before the Versa and it was fairly accurate with my stair count, but now it’s more than doubling the number of floors I climb in a day.

Is this a known issue? Has the way in which the Versa calculates stairs climbed change significantly over the Charge 2? I’ve now gone from averaging 15 floors a day to 34.

Thanks for your response. I hope Google can find a fix. I wasn't aware that
they had purchased Fitbit. I've had Fitbit for years and have never had
this issue before. Now, I've had the Versa 2 for 4 days and this happens.
Apple may be better (I don't know) but Apple watches aren't compatible with
Android phones which is what I have.

I'm very satisfied with it other than the floor counting issue. I also wish
that it tracked kayaking. I now own this new Versa 2 and will live with it.
Hopefully the great minds at Fitbit will work out the issue.

Thanks. Unfortunately, that's what I'm starting to understand.

I was wondering why I got rewarded for doing over 25 flights of stairs today....

I’m now at 39. I seriously only went in the basement 3-5 times at the most?

But this helps explain everything! It has been super windy outside today and we have the central air on. So it’s been a lose lose day! Not liking this... I hate it when my Fitbit won’t count my 9 steps up as a flight. But I can live with a loss. What I don’t like is the lie I feel I’m saying when I get fake rewards....😒

Versa known for this. Me no stairs at all. Walk up and down slight hills =20 stairs. Called technical support twice. Adjusted to 10 stairs ,told hills= stairs. Live with it. Ido.

People have been reporting on this  issue since 2018 - four years ago and Fitbit still hasn't fixed the problem.  People with the Sense are complaining as well.  For the cost, this device should work properly.  I have an old Blaze that does a good job with the stair count so what is it about the programing of the Versa and Sense that changed, making it inaccurate?  Seems to me that Fitbit should fix the danged problem so we don't have to "live with it."  It worked on other devices, so it should be able to work on the Versa and the Sense.

I to have been frustrated by this issue not being addressed by Fitbit.

But I would be wary of switching to Apple - the one big advantage of my
Versa over the Apple is battery life - it's nice not to have to charge the
watch every night as one has to with Apple. - and nice not to have to
purchase an overpriced phone to go with it!

I agree with you why has this PROBLEM not fixed? They keep saying it's the
altimeter so if they know again why is not fixed? I'm at a loss.

I have the original Versa, and like it very much. I’ve thought of replacing
it with an iPhone, but I’m not willing to give up charging about every 5
days, and excellent sleep tracking. --

I have the old Blaze, which was fine as I don't need a lot of bells and
whistles, but I do want a nice looking watch (so that leaves out Samsung
and Garmin). Was looking at the Charge and Luxe trackers until I discovered
that stairs climbed isn't on those trackers (per a fitbit forum posting).
Was considering the Sense or Versa 3 until I saw all the complaints about
the problem with the stairs count.

Sent from my iPad Have the same issue with my Versa 2. Contacted “ technical “ - fixed- NOT. Tried again . Advised because I walk up and down hills elevation change registers as floors. Why???

my versa 2 starting counting way too many floors. it says i climbed 120 floors today while my pedometer app says i climbed one!  the two apps seldom agree exactly, but they are usually close. I know i did not clime 120 floors today, more like 1 or maybe 2 or 3 at most! i reported this problem to fit bit tech support along with my other issue of the screen going way too dim outside (unreadable outside). they will "get back" with me on the issues. issues like this make the watch useless for tracking exercise.

Judging from how many years the floor count has been an issue, it sure
doesn't seem like the Fitbit "powers that be" have any intention of fixing
this problem. It's so weird because my old Blaze still counts accurately
... so why can't the Fitbit software for Versa etc. be fixed?!! I could
care less about 90% of the stuff the Versa, etc. have. But I do care about
floors climbed, particularly when actually hiking. When my Blaze finally
dies, I'll go elsewhere for a watch that counts floors if Fitbit can't ...
or won't ... include accurate floor counting. Given the number of people on
this forum who've complained about it over the years, you would think they
would consider what their customers want ... and fix it!!!!

by the way, this has been an ongoing problem for several weeks. today my Versa 2 says i climbed 73 floors this morning while my pedometer app on my iPhone says 18. I think 18 is more likely based on my morning activity
