Versa dead after factory reset

Hi Community,

I have searched and searched and cannot find any answers - Sorry if this was covered before.

My versa was acting a bit weird, ie would loop through restarts and get stuck on fitbit logo, touch screen would not work until a soft reboot etc etc.

So i decided to Factory reset the device and hope some issues would be fixed.

My battery was lowish, around 8-10% but it was plugged into the charger and charging.

I navigated to the factory reset setting and proceeded.

a few seconds later, the screen went dark. I left it on the charger for over 10 minutes and it was still dark, no response.

Took it off the charger, pressed all the buttons, did all the reset options by pressing all buttons, 2 bottom buttons only for 15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, up to 5 minutes too,

and absolutely nothing.

I put it back on the charger over night....I know the charger is working, as i can charge another versa device.

tried all the button reset options again and again.

So i'm running out of ideas.

The device is completely dead, no lights, no 0% battery, nothing.

It is obviously an old device and out of warranty.

Is there any way to revive it or is it destined for the trash bin?

Hi @VimalMorar -  there is a known bug in the factory reset which kills the watch and there seems to be no way of reviving it.

To confirm it is dead, wait a week or so until the battery is completely flat and then when you push a button it will show 0% - that is all it will do unless you are very lucky.

You can take the matter up with Fitbit Support directly*.for providing the means to destroy the watch instead of rejuvenating it. In my case it was in warranty and they sent me a replacement. It is at their discretion if they do the same for you, I would hope so.

However the original Versa is no longer available unless they have a few for such cases and you may have to upgrade to the Versa 2.

@Guy_ , exactly as you suspected...the watch now shows 0% battery...this got me excited....tried a reset again with the buttons, but wasnt expecting anything to happen, put it back on the charger - black screen, nothing after multiple taps on the screen.

took if off the charger after i let it charge - Tried the 3 button reset again, and same as before - black screen.

I think it is time to arrange for its funeral, RIP

@VimalMorar  -  thanks for the update, one last thing to check that it is not an errant clock face [though it would be unlikely] before it is buried!

  • After it's been on the charger a while, push the button, it may vibrate but nothing else,
  • wait 1 minute
  • then double tap the screen and then immediately swipe the watch face to the left
  • if you don't see the launch icons you can probalby close the coffin!

@Guy_

tried all the buttons together, 2 buttons together, 1 button at a time, etc, nothing at all, no vibrate, no display.

The only thing i say on the display in the last 2 weeks is the 0% battery - even then it wasnt displaying it properly, it was sort of slightly distorted sometimes and displaying correctly at other times.

Closing the coffin and on the way to the crematorium....

@VimalMorar  - @Yolandem  may be right - and was thinking what would happen if a reset button provided on the dashboard of your car crashed the car? Who would be responsible for the accident and the repair?
