Versa didn't record distance on treadmill and elliptical machines

I ran a mile and did the eliptical for three. My versa says I took 7,000 steps but only went .79 miles. Any idea what the problem is? My stride is correct in the app. It's the same I have used for the last 7 years.

@Gatsby155  A warm welcome to our Community! Sorry to hear that your distance wasn't recorded correctly with your Versa. Your device will detect the movement on your arm and translate that movement into steps. These steps are used to calculate the distance you have walked but if your Versa detects small steps this may affect the calculation and this can usually happen when using a treadmill (although it sounds as if you did this outside). The same can happen when you use the elliptical if you don't move your arms. Did you only use the Versa to record your activity or did you manually logged it?

I look forward to your reply.
