It has logged no active minutes despite a 40 minute walk to work

Hey @Sancahojo, welcome to the Community! Ok, let me explain to you how active minutes work. As you may have read in this article, the algorithms detect subtle differences in exertion that may explain why two seemingly identical activities result in different active minute totals. For example if you took a brisk walk along the same route two days in a row, differences in your speed and exertion levels (e.g. out of breath vs not out of breath, etc) will cause different active minute totals for the two activities. Also keep in mind that active minutes are only recorded for activities that last 10 minutes or longer.

Because our trackers primarily track movement through the use of an accelerometer, they more accurately detect active minutes for step-based activities (brisk walking, running) than non-step based activities or activities that require more than steps (yoga, tennis). Since your Versa has heart rate monitor, it can detect active minutes most accurately, since heart rate data allows us to better estimate caloric burn and, in turn, exercise intensity. If you're unhappy with your active minutes total, I recommend logging the activity manually as described in this help article. Manually logged activities override your tracker's data. Sometimes users report a decrease in active minutes after logging an activity, which can occur if what your tracker recorded was more intense than what you logged.

Keep me posted if you have further questions!

Hello,

My fitbit versa is not tracking my active minutes, even if I've done 45 minutes of weights and 45 minutes of cardio it still says I've had 0 active minutes.  I've already done a factory reset my versa and it is still not logging.  It's also not accurately updating my calories, I went from always burning over 2000 a day even if i didnt work out to 900-1000 if I'm lucky.  This isn't not accurate, it was updating everything correctly until recently.

I have searched numerous boards and there are no solutions.

That's what mine is doing now. I'm so tired of trying to get this thing to work. I get one feature to work and another feature stops. The response was about logging exercise. I don't think you can log activity. At least I haven't found a good answer to do that yet.

My Fitbit versa does not automatically record exercise either.  I went in and edited my

low and high heart rate since i

have a heart rate that goes very low (40) and high (208).  Versa still doesn’t automatically record exercise even

when  it clearly is reading my pulse at a faster pulse rate (eg, 154).  I called customer support and all the guy did was repeatedly tell me that the versa automatically records exercise. (It doesn’t in my case).  I’ve made siren the strap is on tight etc.

i wish Fitbit would allow editing of workouts and allow manually adding workouts, as this would at least give a bit of a solution to the lack of the device automatically recognizing exercise.  This would also help with those Times when the fitbit inappropriately pauses during a workout (when you

are actually still moving and heart rate is still up) and would also help compensate for times when the battery dies during

a workout or when you are getting a workout in while your battery is charging.

I have an old Garmin that allows adding and editing workouts.  It’s great for that aspect (I don’t use the garmin for day to day workouts but mostly to more accurately log outrigger canoeing distance and speed while on water— it is mounted on my canoe, as it helps figure out best technique to get faster speed under different wind, current; not same as wearing a versa for general day to day stuff).

I have a MacBook Pro -
