Versa distance is inaccurate

Went for a walk the other day (generally walk a 15 min mile). Walked for an hour and the distance noted was just under 2 miles. Decided to take it to the track  where the correct distance is calculated for me. Walked 8 laps around the track (2 miles) and my Versa calculated 0.80 miles. Thought it would not be an issue, but I was wrong. Suggestions?

Due to connectivity issues, when the Versa is constantly "connecting" and not "connected", it can't register how far your walking, running and/or biking.  I actually started an exercise from the Fitbit app and it held the connection just fine.  Don't even need a tracker to track, except I like to monitor my heart rate while I'm walking.

Mine is WAAAAY off in distance.  The other day I walked 3 miles around the track, so I'm sure of the distance.  I had 12,844 and only 2.72 miles!  I've had a replacement a year ago for the same problem and it's still been an issue.  My HR Charge 2 was off from my Samsung Health app, but NEVER like this...  I would have thought there'd have been a fix by now, a YEAR later than when I first experienced this same problem.  I've reset the stride lengths to the minimum and still the same...  I'm about to call again before the warranty is out.  This is ridiculous.

Yes, open problem for many with little in the way of valid response.  I walk with my wife.  I have an Ionic and it's spot on (checked against car and Google Maps, as well as phone app).  Consistently, my wife's Versa Lite logs less mileage than my Ionic.  I keep reading the solution being setting your stride, but if the watch is acquiring a GPS signal, why would that be a factor?  And why has nobody else posed that question in the threads I've read? [that's an open question, not to AndyCyclist, but your post is the most informative in terms of direction that I have found]
