Versa draining phone battery?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I got a new Galaxy S9+ a few weeks ago and was thrilled with the battery life. By the end of the day I'd still have around 20% battery left. I just started using my new Versa 4 days ago, and every day since my phone's battery has been down to single digits by early afternoon. I disabled All-Day Sync, but that hasn't helped. Any thoughts? TIA!

Hi,

I have a galaxy 8 and the versa is over heating my phone and is draining my battery. I have the all day sync turned off. When will this be resolved?

 Thank you,

Sherry

When did you last update your app? I have a Note 8 and since I updated with their latest, Ive had no problems. I did turn off the auto sync however.
Try doing an update and see how that works for you.

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. Smiley Happy

I appreciate your reports about this situation and for letting us know the troubleshooting steps you've tried so far. Please note that the latest version of the -Android- app (version 2.74.2) launched on 7/11 addresses the issue where some customers experienced increased data use and battery drain on their Android devices.

If you haven't done it yet, please update the Fitbit app on your phone through the Play Store and let us know if you continue experiencing this issue so we can report it to our development team.

Thanks again for your patience and understanding, if there's anything else I can do for you, please feel free to reply.

I had this issue up to this past week. I uninstalled the Fitbit app on my Galaxy S7 phone and battery life is good again. Plus it no longer overheats.

I'm hesitant to reinstall the app. This may be my last Fitbit.

I have a new Galaxy Note 8 - - I was thrilled with the battery life when I first got it (it would last at least 2 days even with a very active social media habit) - - then I got the Versa - - I noticed a decrease in battery life right away - I turned off the off day sync, turned off the messaging (which I really enjoyed having on my wrist) and turned off the weather (miss that too)  and still had to charge at least once a day  - I have finally uninstalled the FitBit app from my phone altogether and just use the fit bit for it basic use - - I use a simple purple/blue butterfly clock face that only tracks steps, HR  and battery life.

I'm disappointed that I can't take advantage of everything that it's clearly able to do.

I have an S*+, new versa, up to date Android and software, and my phone is hot and draining the battery too.  Very upsetting.  And no idea what turning off all day synch will do.

Fixed it?  Not hardly!  It's October and it's still a big problem.

Hi,

I bought my first Fitbit device a few days ago (Versa), and while I love the tracker, I too noticed a battery drain on my phone since I installed Fitbit app. I had All-Day Sync and Always Connected turned off, had the background usage restricted, the app version was up to date since I always have auto updates enabled, and still noticed a significant battery drain.
So, I decided to do a little test. What I did is I charged my phone up to 100% right before going to bed, took it off the charger and left it over night until 6:30 AM - battery was at 89%. So that means that when the phone was idling, it somehow used 11% of its battery.

The next day I did the same thing, but first I uninstalled Fitbit app, charged the phone to a 100%, took it off the charger at the same time as the day before and left it until 6:30 AM - battery was on 94%. Which tells me that Fitbit app drains the battery for additional 5% over the course of 7 hours of idling. That is a lot, and because of that I won't be installing it again until you optimise the app.

I just bought my FitBit Versa during a black Friday sale and have also notice that the FitBit app on my phone drains much faster.  My phone tells me that the FitBit apps is using the most of my battery power. My app was last updated 11/14/18.  I too have all day sync turned off.  Is there an update in the works to resolve this problem??

I never found a solution to keep the app from draining my phone battery....

Only solution I was given was to turn off everything that handle synching - several settings, and do a manual sync when needed.  I was told there was just too much data going back and forth, hence the drain.

Hello everyone, I hope you're doing well. Smiley Happy

I appreciate your participation in the Forums and for sharing your experience with us. At this moment I've forwarded your reports to our team so they can take a better look at this situation. In the meantime, please force-quit the Fitbit app on your phone and use it only when you're about to sync. Remember to force-quit it again if you're not using it.

Thanks for your patience and understanding, if there's anything else you might want to add please feel free to reply.

Using the Versa with your phone is, IMHO, a compromise. I'd love to have
full time sync but it bogs down the phone and kills its battery. So as per
Fitbit tech support, all continuous synch options are turned off, though
notifications from my phone hit the watch in real time. Phone is back to
normal. I manually sync when I need more.

While I'm still new to this, I find it works well for my current needs.
Though I would like GPS fed to the watch when I'm walking outdoors to get a
better mileage number.

The Versa is useful to me in monitoring sleep and walking. I can also read
my notifications without pulling out my phone. It will be more useful if
they ever get the alleged SPO2 monitor working.

If all you want is physical monitoring, you might be better off with the
Charge 2 or 3, which don't do the smart phone stuff. The 2 definitely uses
less phone power.

I find it syncs much better with iOS devices. I use it with my work iPhone
and personal iPad, but removed it from my personal Samsung S7 device (and
now have an S9 that I never installed it on). So far this works--except for
getting alerts when out and about with just the S9. C'est la vie!
