Versa exercise heart rate too high

Been using my Versa for about 6 weeks now to track my heart rate while at the cadiac rehab. While exercising, the heart rate runs high in the 170's+.  Verified while on telemetry since I'm in rehab due to recent cardiac stent. The Versa doesn't match what the nurses see on their monitor.

Did a search and seems like there are multiple reports of the heart rate being incorrect at times. Reset my Versa and reloaded software, did not help. Repositioning on my wrist did not help. While on the treadmill, I'm holding onto the grab rail so it doesn't seem to be a movement related thing.

Will there be a fix for this somewhere along the way? Since HR monitoring while exercising is my primary need, figured HR should be a pretty basic thing to do. But seems like at least the Versa, can't do it.

I am suddenly having the same issue!  I have had my Versa for 3 months and the Heart Rate count seemed fairly good.  However, starting last week it has gone wonky!  Getting 160 readings while I am sitting and resting, even when in bed sleeping.  I can count my own heart rate, and have my own BP meter and my count, and the BP meter are less then 100 BPM then what Versa is showing.  I have done as you have, rebooted the versa, turned the HR function on and off and rebooted versa, over and over again. Right now, a Sunday afternoon I have 522 active minutes!  And I have spent a very easy day of reading and watching TV!  It also is having issues syncing, seems I have to reboot Versa every couple of days!

Pretty sad. Seeing a lot of posts about the HR function being whacked. I'd think that having at least a good, basic HR reading would be needed in order to make the other features somewhat close to accurate. Without knowing what zone your in (fat burn, cardio, resting, etc.), how can the software even estimate calories used, work effort and time in any specific exercise zone? So the features are nice, but not if the information it gives you is unreliable. Garbage in = garbage out.

Seeing a lot of posts about restarting and reloading. Usually doesn't fix anything. Was 35+ years in IT writing code. I have yet to see a true self correcting program. Judging by scope of the posts on the subject of HR, they've got a bug either in their hardware, software or combo. Guessing another rush-to-market decision, before the product was ready.

Will likely abandon my Versa to go back to a Polar. It served me well for years until the chest strap sensor failed and I couldn't get a replacement for my 'old' technology. Just goes to show, newer doesn't always = better.

I'm having the same problem!  I've had my versa since August 2018. It's been fine up until the last month.  Then suddenly heart rate reading is WAY too high.  And sleep stages are only basic reporting, saying it was unable to get a consistent heart rate reading.  I factory reset the watch. Uninstalled the app. Reinstalled and set up the watch. Still NOT WORKING PROPERLY. REALLY disappointed, I may need to go back to my gear fit because without a proper heart rate reading everything else is wrong.
