I haven’t used my versa in a while. Finally decided to use it and notice heart rate and foot steps not working. Then I saw an update. I started the update 3 hrs ago. It shows me on my phone the download almost fully complete but at the last second it says installing and completely goes back to downloading and I can’t do anything with my watch. It just keeps starting over.

@BDWspectra A warm welcome to our Community! Sorry to hear that your Versa isn't completing its firmware update. If this keeps going on a loop the first force close the Fitbit app, reopen it and complete the update. If the issue persist then restart your Versa.
Let me know how it goes!

My versa is doing the same. It keeps staying in this continuous loop of downloading and installing but right at the end of install it starts downloading again. I uninstalled and reinstalled the Fitbit app on my phone. Did an hard reboot of the versa. Open and close the app and rebooted my iPhone. Still won’t work.
I’ve also disconnected and reconnected to the Wifi

I was able to get it fixed by factory resetting it and it took hours. It was a pain. Nothing else worked but that.

I feel your pain. I wanted to return mine as well but I really needed it to monitor my heart rate due to my heart palpitations. I had to Factory reset it. The app seems to not affect the watch so deleting it does nothing. I feel the problem is the watch itself. But when I factory reset it everything worked again and download worked. But it will be like you just bought it and have to do all the settings again and type in the WiFi passcode again. I hope that helps

I got a message from somebody at Fitbit who told me to do a factory reset on the Fitbit. It worked. You need to open up the Fitbit versa screen go to settings on your watch scroll down and hit factory. It works.
No the factory reset is different. What you are doing with the three buttons is just rebooting it. On your Fitbit watch swipe left until you get to the “setting” icon. Click it and scroll all the way to the bottom to “about” icon. Then click on that and scroll to bottom to “factory reset”. Do the reset and reset up your Fitbit from scratch. Like when you got it out of the box. During initial setup it will install that new 3.0 upgrade.

This is ridiculously annoying. I woke up this morning to the fitbit logo and a message saying download the app to setup the fitbit. It is stuck downloading the software over and over again and never installing. We cannot use the watch to swipe to settings to then factory reset. Can someone please suggest another method to factory reset the versa? I have tried holding down all three buttons, and then releasing the bottom right button and then waiting for the hard vibrate, but that never comes, so i don't know if i have at all completed the factory reset... My fitbit has been working since october and then all of a sudden this morning, this madness occurs.

I am having trouble with this. I’ve been trying for over a day and nothing works. I have a Versa Lite that keeps asking for updates or when I get it to start updating it just goes into a loop. HELP

Nothing that was suggested worked. Fitbit ended up sending me a replacement. A friend also had similar issues and they also ended up sending her a new device. Sorry, I know it is so frustrating. 😞

Alvaro, I am experiencing the same issue with a versa 3. The problem is that the rebooting cycle comes with the screen been unresponsive. I have tried three times to install the firmware and I always get the same result. Unfortunately, I cannot avoid installing the firmware which means that now I have a very expensive paperweight. Do you know of a solution for this?

I’ve had problems with Versa 2 ever since I was gifted it over two years ago. I have re set, re booted , downloaded firmware that has taken up to 6 days to download I have spent countless hours on chat with any number of agents , I got so frustrated I stopped using it for almost a year. Then I started to engage with Fitbit chat again. They sent me a new device foc and the same problems all over again. I pay a steep yearly subscription for a crap product/service. It’s set up in a way that it’s easy to buy and set up a subscription but when things go wrong you will find out the down side of Fitbit. Very disappointing product !
